To start. I know they are using disposable everything likely because of COVID. But it would be far more sanitary to actually wipe down tables. Every table was filled with crumbs and spills and there was no line.

My friend and I first ordered small salads and added chicken. The price to add chicken is the same for small or large salads. I don’t recommend you add chicken to either. They couldn’t “find” balsamic for my garden salad and I settled with Caesar. The chicken was so dry it was hard to rip into bite sized pieces with your hands. The chicken comes in extremely large pieces for a salad (half a breast in strips maybe?) and is doused in parsley for effect. The chicken was not seasoned just had some parsley stuck to it and was as drier that I knew cooked poultry could be. I could perhaps create the same effect buy cooking a chicken breast, tossing it in the fridge, and slicing it for a salad a week later.

We also got the fried pickles. They were pretty good on top (only reason for a 2 and not a 1). No dipping sauce was offered and the counter only had ketchup and yellow mustard available. Even a cup of ranch would have been nice. After the first layer half of the pickles were crumbs of batter or half inch by half inch of pickle with batter. If they are going to try to do pickle fries at least offer a full fry.

Overall, less than impressed. We expected it to be overpriced at the park entrance (which it was) but I’ve had better gas station salads...

Yesterday my family went to this cafe and outside were 2 little ladies drinking huckleberry milkshakes. We asked them how they were and they said,"Very good but be aware this cafe is extremely disorganized!" SO TRUE! We stood in ONE of the lines for OVER 20 minutes because ON THE MENU for THIS line it said Huckleberry milkshakes and pie. When we finally got to the front of the line the lady informed us that unless we were ordering burgers with the pie and milkshake that we had to go stand in a different line that was equally as long if not longer. No signage ANYWHERE indicating something like this and the lady had the nerve to get huffy when we complained about it saying to us, "I'm not the one that is in charge of signage but it's only obvious!" Really?! It's only obvious WHEN YOU HAVE IT LISTED ON THE MENU FOR THE LINE YOU ARE STANDING IN!!? Apparently it was not obvious to the two little ladies outside either! Instead, a simple " I am so sorry we should have it listed somewhere. Let me help you with that since you've waited so long in line," would have made my review way different. Everyone has a bad day..... Perhaps she had heard it too many...

If you can, avoid. This is mostly for tour bus groups. The place smells like a hospital cafeteria and almost looks like one. The 2 of us decided to dodge being seated with a couple of strangers by ordering take-out to eat at one of the tables outside where it was sunny, quiet-ish (lawnmower action 10 feet from us), more pleasant.

The hostess said it might take a while to order take-out because one of the waiters would take our order. They have no special staff for take-out orders. Okay. Luckily the waiter was efficient and on top of it.

But then there’s the food. Don’t order the elk burger. You’d think it was special. What I can say it was for sure defrosted that day. It tasted like a generic-anything hockey puck heated up on a grill. The fries too. The bun matched the size of the puck. Yay! The cheese was melted and the peppers and onions were cooked nicely with it. A plus. But I couldn’t finish the meal.

Luckily since the food was so bad we left room for some local ice cream which was...

I really like the abundance of indoor and outdoor seating here making it great for large groups and bringing your four legged friends. Like most people have said, the food is no frills and only just ok for the area. Many other places to go for a similar price but much better food. Still, it’s not horrible and has a variety of options to please everybody. A pleasant surprise was their baked beans! Definitely get some on the side of whatever you order. Tons of flavor and they were a great texture. Apparently the Huckleberry Fizz is a bit hit or miss, but I truly enjoyed it and would get it again. I also really enjoyed their buffalo sauce to dip fries in and put on my burger. Truly added a depth of flavor my meal desperately needed.

We purchased 2 burgers with fries and 2 beers from Freda's today. The restaurant wasn't busy. No complaints with the drinks or fries. They were great. The overpriced burgers were a different matter. I was expecting a decent burger for $18. It looked and tasted like something from McDonald's. Hubby's bison burger was $20 and wasn't much better. They had the hide to add an 18% tip to the bill. Considering you are expected to serve yourself here, that was a bit ripe. A tip should be for great service, not simply doing your job. All up, our $62.59 meal was overpriced for 2 mediocre burgers with chips and a drink. Needless to say, we won't be dining at Freda's again.
