My second, and last, experience at this bar was one of my worst experiences at a bar, EVER. My friend was friends with the owner of Reruns, whose name is Al. She had told me how Al constantly got drunk at his own establishment and how he constantly hit on her, and how she politely refused his advances. She continued to go to the venue due to its’ close proximity to her residence and her friendships with the other patrons. My friend and I were getting food across the street from Reruns and decided to get a drink at the bar while we waited for our food. It started out as a good night. But once we were ready to leave my friend realized that she never received her credit card back. When she asked the bar tender for it they claimed that my friend paid cash and never used a credit card. I witnessed my friend paying for her drink with her card. My friend asked the bar tender and Al, the owner, to look for her card behind the bar. The bar tender, who was new, searched and could not find it. Al, on the other hand, had been drinking and was engaged in conversation with his patrons instead of looking for the card. When my friend asked him again to search for her card behind the bar he ignored her and continued conversating with his patrons. She then went to her car in hopes of finding it. Seeing Al’s lack of interest in finding my friend’s card, I approached him and politely interrupted his conversation. I told him that my friend was looking for her credit card and asked him if he could look for it behind the bar because we were ready to go. It was more than obvious that he was drunk as he kept reiterating that he and my friend were good friends and that he would look for her card shortly. I asked him again to please look for it now since the new bar tender couldn’t find it and we wanted to leave. He continued to rant on about how he and my friends were good friends and how she came in often and how he would take care of her. None of that mattered as he wasn’t looking for her card. After his rant he puts his hands up to give me a high five. I keep my hands in my pockets and ask him to just look for her card. As soon as he started looking for the card he found it. When my friend came back into Reruns, Al told her that I had been disrespectful in the way that I addressed him. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. As an owner of an establishment your first priority should be to your customers, especially if you claim that they are your good friend. Then Al proceeded to tell my friend a fabricated version of the conversation that we had, obviously because we was intoxicated. He must have been offended because I didn’t return his high five :-| AND HE CHARGED HER FOR THE ONE DRINK SHE HAD! As an owner of an establishment and knowing that his employee was at fault, he shouldn’t have charged my friend for her drink. The owner of Reruns is spiteful, racist, and a misogynist. My friend and I are both black females and will NEVER enter...
Read moreThis was copied and pasted from a friend's Facebook status. Apparently, Reruns Bar & Grill is a home for bigots and homophobes:
"I went to a funeral last night for an old friend's mother and after meet up with another long time friend who's mother passed away about 3 wks ago... So we decided to go have a drink and salute two beautiful souls. We decided we stop by a place near our home that is called "Rerun's" which was also the childhood nickname of one of our friends because he looked the actor on the show What's Happening and we thought that would be a great place for a laugh. Much to my surprise I found that the cliental of this establishment including the help behind the bar don't like people of color or different sexual orientation and they especially don't like the people that bring them in..... They treated us like we had a disease and they all moved to the other side of the bar.... Except for one man who sat behind my friend and trying intimidate us and make us leave.. Which we certainly did as I don't like drinking with BIGOT's and hater's. Hatred only breeds Hatred !!!!!!!! STOP and Give peace and acceptance a...
Read moreRude white women worked as the bartender on 09/05/2024. As soon as my friend and I walked in we were not acknowledged. She talked with other patrons and then proceeded to ask us minutes later for our ID. My friend tried to show a picture copy of the ID in her phone. The bartender stated the business did not accept pictures of the ID. My friend was fine with that and went to the car to retrieve her ID. The bartender carried on about the ID when we had no problem with having a physical copy of it. She asked me what I wanted and I told her a lemon drop. I told her with vodka not tequila and that somehow upset her. Then antagonizing me about how lemon drops are not made with tequila. I stated downtown New Haven where there are reputable at bars like 80 proof, Te Amos etc. I never have this problem any of time when the black gentleman is working. I’m disappointed in the service tonight and will not be returning. Maybe she is racist, I seen her treating the white gentleman’s nicely. This is the second time this happened with her about lemon drops where she has an attitude. I’m not sure what her issue is about lemon...
