My girlfriend and I luckily came across this restaurant while staying in the Glendale Springs Inn while we were in town for a wedding in Whitetop Mountain, VA. We were really happily surprised with our experience. Patrick was our server, and he was as enthusiastic as we are about food and was beyond accommodating and helpful. He allowed me to try two types of Pinot Noir (I'm not even sure they were sold by the glass on the menu). We shared the lamb chops as an appetizer and they were delicious with interesting flavors of tarragon, soy sauce, and a subtle touch of ginger. For our main courses my gf had the night's special, a prime filet marinated in black truffle oil which was topped with local blue cheese and crawfish. I had the duck breast from the menu and both entrees were prepared perfectly and we were admittedly very surprised to have such an interesting and impressive culinary experience as we felt like we were far off the beaten path-- but apparently not! For dessert, we shared the bread pudding per Patrick's recommendation and he told us if we could guess the three spices in the dessert, that it would be on the house. We guessed two of them and he gave us a hint for the third (which was a surprise) and he still comped our dessert and we were so appreciative. My girlfriend and I are major food enthusiasts and in the past year we have been all over the US and Europe on food adventures and this, without a doubt, was one of our favorite experiences. I really hope we end up in West Jefferson in the future and that we...
Read moreI have wanted to try this restaurant ever since they opened and my parents sent me pictures of their food. When my husband and I finally got to go try it out and we were not disappointed!
It was a delicious Sunday brunch. I had chicken and waffles. It wasn’t just your average fried chicken and waffles either because it had its own special (delicious) flavor. Plus fruit and small sliced potatoes for the side was an extra bonus. My husband got fish tacos that were also delicious. They had a live musician that was very pleasant too. The owners are very hardworking, caring people as they came and checked on us during our meal.
They clearly care about the quality of the food and their hospitality. It’s not considered a “cheap” meal but the quality of food and atmosphere make it well worth a visit!! It’s a unique place where the focus is on the food, go here for the experience and don’t expect your typical burger/sandwich/pub food that you find in many places around town.
They take reservations. Also, they have stopped serving lunch but they’ve kept Sunday Brunch. However, they will continue to be open...
Read moreMy friends and I were excited about coming here after reading the reviews. I made reservations and mentioned if was my birthday. We also ran into a cook who worded there earlier that day and also mentioned my birthday, and even the hostess called me the birthday girl. Sadly , that was the last mention of my celebration! We were seated in a back corner by the kitchen (never a good spot for me, but it was fun to wave at the cook we met earlier) Waiter was personable and said everything on the menu was Amazing. The lobster toast was supposed to be “the restaurant encapsulated “ and honestly it kinda was. We ordered that and the special of the night, lamb meatballs. They were fantastic and sorry to say that is the only thing we had that was. The lobster toast was burned, the salmon was tasty but very dry, the mashed potatoes and rice were decent, but the Chilean sea bass and steak were super salty. Non of our Entrees were close to being worth the money. We ordered the peanut butter dessert and although tasty and unique, it was also very dry. The waiters were attentive although a bit...
