Food Preparation NOT Consistent by Kitchen Staff
I have eaten here 4-times in the past month and each time when ordering the same meal the preparation in NOT consistent ranging from excellent to poor in quality, quantity and taste…
On the first visit (Monday) the food was wonderful, tasty and well worth the money spent.
The food was so outstanding on Monday, we went back the next day (Tuesday) and I ordered something different as did my wife. I ordered the Burrito Deluxe and the wife ordered Chimichangas (1) chicken and (1) shredded beef, lightly fried. Both meals were huge and the fixings were plentiful. I thought the Burrito Deluxe tasted wonderful until I tasted my wife’s shredded beef Chimichangas which was the best tasting Chimichangas I have ever had. Money well spent.
Both days, Monday and Tuesday the wait staff were courteous, professional and friendly. The food was top-notch with no other Mexican restaurant coming close in York County.
Two days later on Thursday the wife had an appointment and having such amazing meals earlier in the week, we decided to return to Plaza Azteca York for another amazing meal; that WAS NOT the case…
On the third visit we arrived around mid-afternoon as we did the two previous times. I just had to have my own order of shredded beef Chimichangas and the wife ordered (1) chicken and (1) shredded beef all lightly fried. The Chimichangas served that day was day-to-night to the previous Chimichangas the wife had on Tuesday. First off they were not even Burritos or even close to that definition. The Chimichangas were rolled up so tight, basically no filling and about the diameter of my thumb including deep fried to a crisp and burnt. I flagged down our uninterested waiter, who got a female manager who did not seem to care but she did take the Chimichangas back to be remade, but you could see she had an attitude when doing so. The replacement Chimichangas came out in a couple of minutes and they were no better except they were slightly less deep fried, still super crispy, falling apart because they were burnt and overdone. Leaving there that day, I was unsure if I would ever return giving Plaza Azteca York another try.
A couple of weeks passed and the wife had another appointment on a Monday so we decided to give Plaza Azteca York another try as maybe the previous visit on Thursday was a fluke and not the new normal. We arrived mid-afternoon and I ordered the Burrito Deluxe and the wife ordered Chimichangas (1) chicken and (1) shredded beef, lightly fried. My Burrito Deluxe was nothing special as the sauce was totally different (slightly off-putting taste with a yellowish greasy film) than the first Burrito Deluxe I ordered there and the fixings on top were just thrown about, looking nothing like I originally received the second time we ate there. The wife’s Chimichangas both lightly fried were pretty good but not as tasty or well prepared as the second time we ate there either. Our server who was also the barmaid was very pleasant and courteous.
Bottom line, Plaza Azteca York may be OK every 6-to-9-months or so but if you are looking to dine their regularly to order a wonderful tasty meal and expect it to come out the same each time, I’m doubtful this will be the case.
Plaza Azteca York has some serious issues with the kitchen preparation staff as they are NOT consistent with food preparation. I hope management gets their act together, as issues and problems start at the top and if not addressed or allowed to continue, this will be another failed, closed restaurant in...
Read moreDo not eat here! Let me start with saying I got very sick from the food! My friend and I went yesterday for lunch. She has eaten there several times and it was my first time there. We were seated at a table that had some smeared black beans never wiped off from it, which I didn't notice until I put my hand directly in them upon seating. There were also black beans on the one chair. We both ordered the frozen strawberry margaritas which were huge! Those tasted fine. They provide you with complimentary chips and salsa like most Mexican restaurants. Pretty average. The salsa was bland. It also came with a white sauce, but it was not a queso and more of a corn sauce like would be over Mexican street corn. Not very good. My friend ordered the quesadilla el pastor and I got the enchiladas el jefe. Her quesdilla came out and looked somewhat dry. It comes with nothing additional - no beans, rice, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, etc. She asked for sour cream which was then brought out only to find out upon getting her bill that there was an upcharge for it. My enchiladas were very dry, and the meat was tasteless and chewy. The one did not contain any corn like it stated on the menu it would and had about 2 tiny pieces of onion on it. Says on the menu "enchiladas stuffed with carne asada, grilled corn and onions. Covered with queso fresco, sour cream and out special corn sauce over a bed of rice." The other one (I got the lunch portion with 2) had very minimal corn and onions. Also, it did not come with any sour cream. The server was average. We did not have a long wait time. It was decently busy. I left feeling the food and experience was mediocre and that I would be fine with not returning again as I've definitely had better Mexican food at other restaurants. Sixteen hours later I woke up feeling extremely ill only to have food poisoning from this place! It was definitely the food because I did not eat anything else but some popcorn since. Upon reading the reviews, I see others have also gotten sick! I'm thankful for the person who posted about this restaurant having health code violations. Upon then looking into that, Plaza Azteca had 27 violations in November 2021! It is no wonder I got so sick from this place! Needless to say, I will never be returning or recommending this place to anyone! It's a wonder it wasn't shut down due to being...
Read moreTerrible, awful experience!!!! We had a 20 minute wait, no big deal. I went to ask how much longer would it be and the hostess asked if I had entered my info on the sign in. I told her I had (I had literally been sitting in front of her for the last 20 min on my phone). She claimed she texted me 20 minutes ago, I advised she did not but then she took us back right away. My husband's drink had a crack in the glass and was slowly leaking all over the table. Had to track down someone at the bar to help and get a new drink. The next episode makes me think I have seen it all. The guests seated next to us had a baby stroller, except not a baby in it. There was a small yippee dog in the gd stroller!!! This was not a service dog, just a pet. So we had to eat dinner 5ft away from a dog. I didn't think this was allowed but I guess they thought it was sanitary. My 4 year old's meal came out wrong not once but twice. That's a real blast when you have a hangry 4 year old. They forgot the side of sour cream, which you are charged for. Brought it out on 2nd request and it was totally liquified. Disgusting, can't say I have ever seen liquid sour cream. We never got the kids refill chocolate milks either. We went to order dessert and they were out of 2 items on the menu, so we chose something else...we were sharing with the kids and they only brought 2 spoons for 4 people. My husband ate with a knife. To end the night, I took my daughter to the bathroom where we had to navigate around a pile of trash in the middle of the floor and a worker who paid no mind because she was too involved on her phone. Do yourself a favor and don't eat here!Spend your...
