My family has been enjoying Jimmy Buffs for over 70 years and nothing has changed. They have withstood the test of time because of simplicity, consistency and fresh ingredients. The recipe is the same today as it was 90 years ago and it shows!
I grew up in Irvington and my family would order every Friday night from the Springfield Avenue location. It was that way for may years until we decided to move. Several years later, as an unemployed 18 year old living in Kearny, I walked past an old abandoned bar in North Arlington that had a sign out front that read: "Jimmy Buffs Coming Soon"! I saw a few cars in the lot and went inside to see if they needed workers to help put the place together. I just wanted to be part of anything Jimmy Buffs...lol. Little did I know that the Owner Jimmy would be there. We discussed my experiences with Buffs and my work history...he offered my a job as a Prep Cook starting the day they opened a few weeks later.
I spent a few years working my way up to one of the head pan cooks there and even spending time in the West Orange Store with the "Right Hand Man". The Buff family is very tight and takes very seriously the way a sandwich is made. I moved on to other things after a few years but always look back on my time there as a dream come true because it was part of the memories I had as a kid.
Today, Tommy runs the West Orange location and he is terrific at carrying on the family legacy. He was just a kid when I met him in North Arlington, but I sure am proud of what he has accomplished.
As for me, I have eaten way more Buff sandwiches than I would ever admit to my Cardiologist...lol. I have been on a weight loss journey that has led to me losing over 35lbs so far. My first milestone on the way to my ultimate goal was met, and not much thought went into what I wanted my cheat treat to be...you guessed it...Jimmy Buffs!!!
Sure, this review is a bit biased, but other than the fact I worked there, my story isn't much different than all the others who patronize this business. We live in a world where brick and mortar, family run places are no longer equitable. To be in business for 90 years and not only survive, but thrive in todays world just shows how special the Jimmy Buff and Racioppi Family are to many in New Jersey and around the country!!!

And then I saw him take a piece of bell pepper off a sandwich with the hand that was not covered...
No food safety training at all... The food danger zone is between 40°-140° bacteria can grow and the human body temp is 96°-98°
Something to think about...

To your reply....
Wow..... I hope this is not a manager or owner who replied with a response like that.. Instead of trying to correct the problem. I know if I see this , another customers see it. too.
It's bad enough you don't wear hair nets.
I've been in the business for a while I just see things that others may not see.
Just by your response if I was to come to your store for the first time and talke to the person who commented on my post there still wouldn't be a change on how you handle food. Just by your comment (trying to bring your business down ). You worried about the business ratings instead of food safety, because unsanitary practices or a foodborne illness that a customer catches from one of the employees would shut down your business for good so you shouldn't be worried about someone trying to bring down your business ratings you doing that on your own by unsanitary conditions and food safety.
Where is the food handlers certification is should be posted on the wall. I seen a tub full of potatoes in water uncovered just standing in back kitchen. How long that been out just sitting there.
And you worried about ratings.... Run your business correct before someone call the...
Read moreI would like to know how hard it is to read instructions because apparently it’s very difficult for the store staff? I ordered three sandwiches and I ordered from the Kenilworth store. They shifted the order through door dash to the west orange store. Not only did my order arrive cold. But also incorrect !! How hard is it to read “potato sandwich with extra potatoes” ? That’s not what I rcvd. I don’t like onions and peppers. My family has their food and I have nothing. It didn’t even come with mustard. Like a lick of mustard. How hard is it to make a potato sandwich with extra potatoes ?? It’s hard apparently. I Don’t recommend this store. You never know what you’re getting.
** UPDATE : So the store replied basically taking no accountability for not paying attention to the order. As you can see, they said if I was in person I could tell them what I wanted. This is infuriating to me because it’s very easy to follow : potato sandwich, extra potatoes, mustard. What I recvd was potatoes, onions, peppers and barely mustard. AGAIN…. How hard is it? It’s very hard when you can’t read or comprehend. Your business customer service skills are lacking. What you’re not lacking is insults.
It’s ok though, I’ve heard many people say they won’t frequent this store. Can’t...
