Carvel — Restaurant in West Palm Beach

I saw many reviews of people saying that this is the best ice cream around. If that's truly the case, I feel sorry for you all. Now granted, we didn't get straight ice cream, the GF and I got carvelanches. My cookie dough was OK. Just tasted like ice cream with cookie dough added in, and tons of it. Why not tone down the cookie dough and add a few chocolate chips and little chocolate syrup? I love cookie dough, but don't like overkill. Speaking of overkill, the GF got the birthday cake carvelanche. My gf complained about there being too many sprinkles. I didn't believe her so I tried it. It wasn't ice cream with sprinkles, it was more like sprinkles with a little ice cream, with artificial flavor added in. The one half spoon that I had was overly artificial tasting, was chocked so full of huge crunchy sprinkles that I thought I was going to chip a tooth. The aftertaste was like eating Tums. Not so yummy. I don't know the long history of Carvel, but if they want to innovate, maybe they should take some tips from Cold Stone, or even...

So, the staff was super friendly, it's a great location and will obviously be packed with families on a hot night in south Florida, but as a business owner in service I would never take that for granted especially seeing so many businesses on Dixie close in recent months. Ice cream was great... Kids were happy.. Why am I leaving 1 star? 6 people behind the counter and when someone, a paying customer asked for them to use a clean scooper for their ice cream order because of a tree nut allergy, (we were a party of 10) no one was courteous enough to walk to a sink to rinse off a scooper so she could have ice cream. Oh, how things change. Places like this were starving during Covid. Really, really sad. Be kind, be courteous. Remember, it takes making one customer happy that could make the difference. I have visited this place for many years and I usually get a good service but today one of the Girls named (jessi ) that worked today Friday 28 of February 2020 09:30 pm she was EXTREMELY RUDE she started by telling me that she could not put the topping in my order on my ice cream and that I can put it myself. Later she gave me the topping in a cup and proceed to check out I told her that this was never done before and told her that her tone of voice was very rude then she proceeded to tell me to get out of there. And the rest of the staff come to me to apologize for her behavior..I was astonished to the way she treat me and my family and I hope never to encounter again such a nasty server again.
