Well, I'll start off by saying.. I'm not really sure what to think of Sushi Jo. I've been a loyal customer, literally going 1-3 times a month, always going with my boyfriend.. never spend less than $150.. 1. I will say I have been to MANY sushi restaurants, and sushi jo is not cheap, somethings are definetly overpriced. 2. I will say that the setup of the restaurant.. including the on PGA, is terrible. unless you like listening to everyones conversations. me and my boyfriend go sit in the smallest table in the corner just so we can be a couple feet away from everyone, which isn't much! it's just very open seating, not very personal. 3.LETS TALK ABOUT THE SUSHI.. the wasabi & ginger are excellent always very fresh.. the sushi is good, prepared fast, NEVER-EVER-EVER had to wait at this restaurant, ive been on everyday of the week, weekend nights, take-out, everything. take out is always 25 minutes. BUT.... the first bad experience at SUSHI JO , was in august i believe, when we ordered the AMA EBI, a sweet shrimp that is obviously in high demand there, because they don't always have it. well let's just say that it was rotten, i had to spit it up in the napkin, but my poor boyfriend ate it first, and later was throwing up if you know what i mean. MAYBE, since i didn't get sick, it didn't scare me. but i will say my boyfriend has refused to eat the shrimp since that day! (and i will add that they only took the shrimp off the check). FOR THE REAL STORY... last saturday, we ate at sushi jo, and i pointed out to him.. that it smelt a little.. fishy. not in a bad way i mean't it was a fish restaurant but.. just off. So we eat, everything is ok, a day goes by, and the next, my boyfriend is sweaty, hot and cold, throwing up, nausea , diarehha, and ends up going to the hospital. I didn't think until the next day when i woke up litteraly feeling like i was dying, i could feel my heartbeat in my head, my hands where shaking.. EVERYTHING i finally realized, we had gotten food poisoning. =/ its to sad i really freaking loveee their ATLANTIC SALMON CEVICHE! i AGAIN am not saying that this is a bad place, im just saying why i don't like it and can't eat there anymore, just because the name makes my stomach cringe...
Read moreThis place was good at first. Second time coming the white young lady was aggravated and setting my plate infront of me that was a boat not a plate, i like tha boat but not how she threw it over my face and attitude. Then the spanish lady at the front who couldn't speak english and had an attitude problem since i got there said sit wherever you like and had a bad attitude when i said can I get my receipt, since all servers and bartenders are basically a team right? No she said its not my problem and not my table, thats her job. Thats the problem with new immigrants thinking everything is handed to them. Not ever coming back again until they are gone and better service. The food was alright not to die for if you want really good sushi and service, go to Sushi Song its far but better qulaity and service for your buck. Upset stomach and ruined mood from this whole experience. What should i expect its lake worth. Had loved it the first time and now its not even on my list anymore. I was a good tip guy and well easy going, not easy to make me mad. Im beyond annoyed and will deff tell others to stray away now....
Read moreSpicy Mayonnaise and cream cheese come on far too many rolls. Not what sushi is about. Reduces the food to lowbrow AYCE sushi standard. Having some options is understandable, those people are out there, but understand your core demographic. The ZillaMoki is 40 dollars with “Main Lobster” but it comes absolutely drowning in mayonnaise, taking what should be a premium ingredient and reducing it to fair food. Based on their preparation I’m guessing it’s a pile of fake crab with some lobster sprinkles. I’d toss the lobster with a 1/2 Tbs ghee and top with furikake and lemon zest. Give the zilla that Main lobster roll vibe without the carny kick in the mouth. If your product is really good you don’t need cheap fats (spicy mayo) and sugar (eel sauce) to make it taste great. Explore homemade ponzu or a soy mirin reduction to paint on rolls. It’s the classy move. The fish is quality and delicious they just need to respect the ingredients like great places do. Let your fish buying speak for its self otherwise you’re in a race...
