I wish i lived closer. We stopped here after visiting a show at the Eastern States Exhibition outside of Springfield, MA. We had looked for something nearby that was different than the usual faire and we found it. We started with hummus and baba ghanoush. Each was finely blended down but retained a good texture for scooping with bits of pita bread. While I'm more accustomed to a coarser baba ghanoush the flavor of both of these appetizers was excellent. They were served in half pint take out containers. We had about a quarter of each left to take home, but we ordered another round to go and enjoy another time. They were that good. We had each ordered the Mixed Platter which included one of the aforementioned appetizers, rice, pickels and our choice of three meats. We went with the lamb shish kebab, which included onion and green peppers, kufta, which was a ground beef patty seasoned with dill and other spices. It reminded me of a Salisbury steak, but much more flavorful and without the gravy which would have ruined this tasty dish. The third meat chosen was chicken shwarma. The chicken somewhere between being diced and shredded and had a similar, yet different seasoning that was thoroughly enjoyable. Rounding out the plate were very fine pickle spears i believe were made from small cucumbers. They were served warm and complimented the meal a lot better than i had anticipated. A small cup of heavily garliced sour cream or yogurt (?) Seemed almost unnecessary with all of the spices and flavors working so well together, but it elevated the meal to the next level. Seating is limited in this storefront restaurant and we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table to clear on this Saturday early afternoon. You must go to the counter to order and pickup your food; which is made fresh, so expect to wait 15-20 minutes to be ready. The staff is friendly and helpful and were continually scurring to prepare the orders. There was a good mix of ethnicities filling the seats and the air was filled with friendly chatter and devoid of the ubiquitous top 40 muzak played in every sit down chain restaurant. We also got some coconut cookies, date cookies and sweet cakes for later. I can't say how good they are but they look delicious and expect 5 to match the rest...
Read moreI live in western NY and I am staying in west Springfield on vacation. I wanted to try something different, so we settled on Taste of Lebanon. All the reviews were great. Besides having pita bread, I have never had Lebanese food. I walk in and even though it was fairly busy I was greeted by a kinda woman patiently taking everyone's order. I received my order, I thought I ordered the beef kabob, but what I received was the chicken. I took it to the counter and showed the order and the woman kindly told me I ordered the chicken, I said oh I thought I ordered the beef and then I was unsure. She offered to make me another meal I kinda felt guilty, I now wasn't sure if I had actually ordered wrong. I told the woman it's ok I didn't want any of the food to go to waste and started to walk away. The woman insisted on making me a new meal and I insisted that she not. She then offered to just make me some beef, I accepted the offer at this point . I sat down and started to eat. I enjoyed the taste of the chicken and the beef (although different flavors than I'm used to). I didn't enjoy the rice as much. I have never had rice with that type of flavor( mainly cinnamon taste to me). When eaten with the chicken it was not noticeable and actually paired nicely. The rice on its own I didn't care for( I also have the taste buds of a 5 year old), but it was cooked perfectly. There were a total of 5 of us that ordered. Everyone loved the food and especially the hummus. Very good portions and the quality of the food is very good. The pita type bread was very good also. Even though some aspects of the food wasn't for me, I was impressed by the kindness shown when presented with a problem. Thank you for your excellence in...
Read moreTo start, grew up eating Lebanese from my Sitti and my father so without a doubt my favorite cuisine. Ordered delivery as I am working an Expo in town. Falafel sandwich was fresh, decent portion. Grilled chicken skewer was bizarre it was like chicken pieces in a tin with some lettuce. It kind of reminded me of the makings of a chicken burrito. Grape leaves were decent. To be honest what made me write this review is when a business advertises one price and then when you order they say something stupid like "oh that pricing is old". Legit said "oh the pricing has changed twice since whats online, that pricing is two years old". This gets under my skin and comes off soooo dishonest especially when your delivery driver drives a BMW. Today my entire team comes in and I was extra excited to share this food with them and buy everyone lunch for the next 4 days. It just rubs me the wrong way. I wish...
