If you like soggy buns and tiny burgers, this place is for you! I ordered some burgers from the food truck in Northampton outside the dispensary and they couldn't have been worse. Firstly they are tiny for the price. The burgers themselves were so greasy they soaked the buns and turned then into sponges. I asked for extra pickles and they gave me about 3 pickle chips per burger. I also bought a mixed basket of fries and onion rings which was laughably small but the onion rings were crispy and good. The fries however were soggy as can be. I asked beforehand if their fries were crispy and the guy running the truck (who was not very friendly and seemed annoyed that I was giving him money in return for burgers. Because he acted like he was doing me a favor.) said they were like every other french fry. Like what? Every single restaurant makes fries differently, fries are not prepared the same at every establishment. The thing that really rubbed me the wrong way was when I asked for a side of BBQ sauce and he said "We don't do sides here. If you wanted it on the burger you should have told me" which if I wanted it on the burger and not on the side I would have said that. The girl who was there was nice and probably could tell I was getting agitated and didn't want things to escalate further so she kindly gave me a side of BBQ. All in all the place serves up overpriced soggy burgers with a side of trash customer service. Not sure if the original in Springfield is like this but the Northampton food truck is...
Read moreThey were out of footlong hot dogs. How can you be out of footlong hot dogs? As a hot dog place, that serves burgers and dogs, you are out of the footlong variety. If there is a foot available of anything, I want it. Especially when it comes to my weiners.
See lots of claims of being the best burger, best this, best that. Mehh, decent for being what it is.
Joint has the old school nostalgia feel. Cashier was great and was helpful, after she herself stopped eating. Menu was simple and I have a feeling I could really get silly with the mash-up, but I was still startled when the footlong was off the table. I did order a regular dog and the option of American cheese or cheese sauce once again took me for a ride. I just didn’t know what to say.
In the end, I was very pleased they have a half onion ring and fry bag. And I was pleased with the dog. Although it was served sideways in the clamshell, and I had quite the mess to deal with.
The flat top is layered with grease, which was both amazing and frightening to see. The burgers are fine but the diced onions and cheap bun were not the greatest. I almost did not eat it because the burger was just a touch more pink than I like. Waiting for the free diarrhea to follow in a few hours.
I don’t like shakes, but they have plenty. Prices were a bit high once you start adding on extra toppings. Reminds me of the evolution of a place in the south called Cook Out. But not...
Read moreThe White Hut is iconic in the area because it's been around forever as a result of their excellent service and amazing food. The menu remains simple as it focuses mostly on hamburgers, hot dogs, and fries, but they now offer new things like fountain drinks, soft serve ice cream, and more. They're also famous for their fried onions which I reccomend giving a try. The experience of being here is also very unique. Seating is limited, but regardless if you're seated or not the experience is roughly the same since you tell whoever is behind the counter your order and then you're handed it (on napkins or paper plates usually) shortly after. In addition to fountain drinks you can grab a drink (such as a soda) from one of 2 refrigerators located at the back of the restaurant. During rush times there's a whole lot of yelling your order over other people who are seated to the staff, but I swear they never ever get it wrong no mater how many people are there. After you've eaten your meal (or if you got your food and want to take it to go) you approach the cashier who then asks you what your ordered, you pay, and then you leave. This simple honest relationship between the restaurant and the customers gives the White Hut the charm it's had since it opened. Overall this by far makes them the best place to get a burger in the West...
