El Rocoto is a vibrant standout in the world of Peruvian cuisine, offering dishes that burst with authentic flavors and traditional flair. From the perfectly seasoned ceviche to the rich, comforting lomo saltado, the food here is undeniably delicious—a true celebration of Peru’s culinary heritage.
But what truly sets El Rocoto apart is the extraordinary service provided by Mariann. She is an absolute gem! Warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about ensuring every guest feels valued, Mariann goes above and beyond to create a memorable dining experience. Whether offering thoughtful recommendations, checking in with a smile, or sharing her knowledge of the menu with enthusiasm, she transforms a great meal into something exceptional. It’s clear she truly cares about her clients’ satisfaction, remembering preferences and anticipating needs with a personal touch that feels both sincere and rare. Her dedication and hospitality are a breath of fresh air, making you feel like a cherished guest rather than just another customer.
It’s worth noting that Mariann’s standout service shines even brighter in contrast to the occasionally inconsistent attentiveness of other staff members. While the rest of the team isn’t always as polished or present, Mariann’s professionalism and warmth more than compensate, turning any visit into a delight.
Yes, the prices can lean toward the higher side, but with Mariann at the helm of your experience, every dollar feels justified. Her exceptional service adds immense value, making El Rocoto a place worth returning to again and again. In fact, we’ll absolutely return—not just for the vibrant dishes, but for the unmatched hospitality Mariann brings to every interaction.
If you’re craving bold Peruvian flavors paired with service that feels like a warm embrace, El Rocoto is a must-visit—especially if you’re lucky enough to be seated in Mariann’s section. She’s the heart of this restaurant, and because of her, El Rocoto isn’t just a...
Read moreTook mom for dinner since she was in the mood for Peruvian. Start off nobody greeted us when we came in so we picked a table ourselves. The joint closes at 9pm we got there just after 7 and it looked like we were the only guests, it took the waitress almost 10 min before she acknowledged us and brought menus over. We selected lomo saltado and chupe de mariscos. It took them almosr 30 min to serve. The seafood in the chupe was super dry, definitely overcooked and salty as hell. We asked if they could get us a different dish since obviously my mom couldn't enjoy the dish she had been craving. We picked the roasted chicken breast. 15 min later my mom finally gets to eat. At this point it's almost 8:30, it seems they are getting ready to close so we felt rushed. I asked for the check thinking I'm gonna pay for 2 meals, to my surprise we get charged for all 3 dishes even though we sent one back. Tried explaining this to the waitress but she said "well you order 3 dishes so you should pay for all 3". Needless to say we won't be coming back. Horrible service. Terrible food. We felt robbed and the fact remains that from now on every time someone in my circle suggests Peruvian food i remember this bad experience and talk about it. So much for word of mouth advertising not just for this place but for every Peruvian...
Read moreI originally had a 5 star from a few years ago. We just went this past weekend and it was ok. I mean you could eat the food but the anticucho was very hard and you could tell it was most likely reheated, when ordering we asked how many pieces come on a plate and she told us 9. When we got it there were 6. We asked and she said well these are big prices, nothing more. The papa a la huancaina didn’t taste quite right, it almost tasted like they put chicken bouillon in it. The lomo Saltado was not fresh. Also we took some friends who have never had Peruvian food and we were showing them what each item was on other people’s tables. The lomo they brought out before ours you could see was fresh and lots lots more than what we received. When you make lomo it shouldn’t soak up the juices like in the onion or potatoes and ours was way too doused in soy sauce. The pollo a la braza was good not great like I have had at other places, and the green aji was way way too salty. I mean to the point where you couldn’t even eat it, it was too salty. The Jalea was good but it usually has cancha with it. We mentioned these things to the waitress and she just shrugged and said ok. Nothing. The service this time was not great. I don’t think I will...
