Was looking to try something different and came upon Somali food. I have a colleague who is from Somali and said to try the food. First impressions are "what in the world is this". It looks like a seamstress works there but then you get a feel that maybe it's a small ethnic grocery store and then way back on the right is a little kitchen. Told then what kind of food I was looking for an office lunch and the young lady very politely helped me with the selections. She asked for 50min to cook the 5 items: ground beef samosas, goat meat on rice, baked chicken legs on rice, beef suqar (stew) over rice, and chicken suqar (stew) on noodles. Turns out this young lady was the cook! Once the food was ready, she helped me get it to the car. At the office the staff and I dug in to the food and it was DELICIOUS!!! we all liked the samosas, the rice, baked chicken legs, and the beef stew. The goat for some was just ok but others loved it. The chicken stew came in last to the baked chicken. I hope to try other foods from them in the future but the Samosas will definitely be ordered again!! Thank you!!

The food is good. If you are going to charge restaurant prices, it is imperative to invest in adequate seating and waiting areas. The current setup is uncomfortable and uninviting, and it significantly impacts the overall experience. Additionally, the service could be improved by training the staff to be more attentive and accommodating to the customers' needs. Furthermore, I noticed that the store part of the business is unorganized and empty. This could be improved by stocking up on more items and making use of the space creatively to add value to the customers' experience.

Don't be intimidated by the fact that it's also a market and a tailor, and their unlit sign is hard to see after sunset. This is not only the best Somali food, and one of the best African restaurants in SLC, imho it's one of the best restaurants, period, and I'm sad it took me until I was leaving to discover it.

The tenderest goat I have ever had, fall off the bone, moist, unctuous and fatty (in a good way), not tough or chewy or dry.

Pasta was al dente, and made when I ordered, not sitting around precooked all day. The sauce was flavorful, with diced potato and ground meat, and spooned on top rather than tossed together, as is my preference. My only complaint is I wish they gave you more of it!

The woman who cooked it was super nice. In fact everyone there was warm...
