Olde Country Diner — Restaurant in West Virginia

Shame on the people at this restaurant. I always heard good things about this diner until they dis respected my friend. I wouldn't recommend them to any one any more. Shame shame on you.

Soo disappointed!!! My mom called me aftershe got off of work today to say she was going to order take out from a restaurant in Martinsburg WV called Olde Country Diner located at 1426 Winchester Ave Mtsbg WV. She was asked to leave the Diner and wait outside for her order after sitting and waiting inside for 15 plus minutes with her mask on. There were several other patrons who she watched order To Go meals that were allowed to wait for their food inside and who weren't asked to pay in advance for their meals. However my mom was asked to pay in advance and then after paying was asked to leave the establishment and wait outside for her order. If these are the rules that is fine, but why was she the only person placing a To Go order that was asked to wait outside???? Is this what it's come to Martinsburg??? Please help me find out who the owner is? Not the manager the owner. I am hopeful that having a conversation will help them understand the importance of equality and diversity. An investment in diversity and inclusion training may be needed for their staff!!! Time to Educate!!!

Editing this post to ad a bit more context. As this should truly be about growth and education. My mom told me she left the restaurant feeling extremely embarrassed with her tummy in knots. She said it was as if he'd said to her, "You can't drink out of the same water fountain". My mom is an overcomer so I am confident this too shall pass, but it's imperative especially in today's climate to educate and work to be better people.

Should really be one star, if that…. Been here before and thought the wait after ordering my food was a little excessive. Then after eating my breakfast, I just remember thinking, that it was nothing to write home about. I returned on 4/30/22 because its always better to give the benefit of a doubt…. I love family diners and Saturday morning breakfast, and I dont mind paying for it. This time I kinda paid attention. I was greeted and seated almost immediately, the diner was fairly busy, but not packed. Asked for coffee, which was brought out quickly, I also ordered my western omlet with homefries and toast. After my second cup of coffee and 25 mins, my food was brought to the table and was completely unacceptable. The Omlet seemed kinda skimpy from the start so I unrolled it and inside looked like the scrapings from a cleaned griddle… could not barely recognize what was inside. Onions and peppers burnt to a crisp…. Not “Carmelized”…. Burnt! No ham to speak of and grease outweighed the cheese. I gave two stars only because I was not charged for the meal, or my coffee I would have loved to include the picture I took of this plate of food with this review. I wanted to like this place and make it a “Go To” for weekend mornings…....

The Olde Country Diner is a local gem. The staff was amazing - welcoming,  super friendly and very effecient.

We stopped in late afternoon on a Saturday and they were pretty busy though we were seated right away and did not wait very long for our meals.

The menu offers hearty, country-style dishes like chicken fried steak, meatloaf, sandwiches, burgers and homemade pies! If you dont have room for dessert, bring some pie home!

My burger was hand forned 1/3 lb on a big soft country bun. It was a little too well done to my liking, but still juicy. Country fried steak was great- crispy outside, tender inside.

The salad bar was fresh and well maintained with someone checking on it regularly.

Pies all looked delicous!
