My husband and I had lunch yesterday @ Taco Loco in Martinsburg, WV. As soon as we got out of tha car and got closer to the door all you could smell was spices, meat grilling and the smell of really good food! We walked in and the aroma smacked us in the face in a really good way. The staff greeted us with a smile and we were seated right away. Our server was a wonderful woman who was very helpful and friendly. We started with Chips and Cheese dip. The chips were Tri Colored corn tortillas, that came with mildy spicy White Queso that was creamy and served hot. Then a red tomato salsa with fresh herbs. Both were delicious! They have a fully stocked bar with great drink options and great prices. We decided to share the Pastor Tacos, it's three Soft Corn tortillas stuffed with marinated pork ,grilled pineapple, fresh cilantro and white diced onions. The two sides are seasoned creamy black beans and cilantro and lime rice. Also there are two Taco sauces that accompany your food. One is a Tomatillo based sauce with fresh herbs and spices thats mildly spicy, and the other is a red sauce with Chiles and fresh herbs and spices. The red is pretty spicy but still has good flavor. Its not so hot that all you taste is heat. Because it is a authentic Taco spot they dont put tons of sour cream or loads of shredded lettuce on your food, but if you ask for sourcream or lettuce they are happy to oblige. Halfway threw our meal the Manager came over and asked how was everything and asked if we needed anything. I said no, everything is wonderful and all we need is more napkins! We ended up finishing up our meal with the Churros and vanilla ice cream. OMG! The Churros were warm and crispy on the outside and warm and soft inside. They are covered in cinnamon and sugar served with vanilla ice cream and a few maraschino Cherries. MMmmmm...I have lived in San Antonio, TX. So I think I know a good Taco when I taste one. This place took me back. Its the best Taco spot anywhere that I've been in this area from Winchester to Charlestown and even inwood. The food and the staff are wonderful. So if you want real authentic Tacos or the real deal mexican experience you need to come to Taco Loco! When you do I know you'll be back. Just like I...
Read moreOne look at the menu will turn you off. Prices are higher than a Las Trancas, for example - a sit down restaurant that serves hot food, larger portions, and complimentary chips and salsa. $7 for a kids meal? In one of my pictures, you can see half the quesadilla that came with the kids meal, along with rice. I had three tacos. The pastor appeared to be warmed or cooked a bit, maybe. The steak was cold and so were all the tortillas. That's a simple fix and I can't think of a single excuse why they're still serving cold tacos after other reviewers mentioned them too. The street corn tasted good. Not sure if it's supposed to be warm or not.
Here's the deal. Look at my picture, the food is served in plastic cups, with plastic silverware, on metal food trays. I'm fine with that, I don't need a gourmet experience when I'm in the mood for tacos. But the pricing suggests I'm getting something special, but in reality, you'll get *less food than any of the area Mexican restaurants serve *cold food *picnic-style platery *no complementary chips & salsa *smaller portions
Alright. This is a Google review. I absolutely mean no ill intent to the business and its owner. In fact, I'd love for them to make it here. I could eat Hispanic food every day of the week. I was excited to try it. I hope they take the feedback given by myself and other reviewers and make some changes. I won't come back until I read more...
Read moreGross Nachos!! Like the worst I’ve ever seen. I tried them and couldn’t even eat them. So nasty!
Two stars for the bartender, though. Drinks were tasty and she was very friendly all while handling the bar, the entire dining room, incoming doordash orders, and take out orders. My frozen twisted sangria and margarita was interesting. I really enjoyed the mix of these two drinks.m, though I think the drink was a bit over-priced compared to other Local places that offer margaritas and sangria.
The nachos locos were really gross, though. I took a few bites but gave up. They were on a regular sized dinner plate—chips, canned jalapeños, runny cheese sauce, and the “steak” tasted kind of weird. The little cubes of meat weren’t seasoned but they didn’t really taste like steak….I’m pretty sure it was mystery meat.
We ended up not ordering dinner after how scary the nachos were. I mean how do you mess up nachos? There wasn’t even any salsa, sour cream, lettuce… it was the saddest plate of nachos I’ve ever seen. I see pictures of other people’s food and I can’t imagine they can make good food here after these nachos. Even the salsa that came with the chips was runny and flavorless just like the cheese…it’s like they are watering these things down!
Our drinks were decent, though, and the bartender was a champ for running the...
