I have to say I was very excited to be getting a bagel place in Westerville. It's been a long time since we've had one and from the reviews on the original store in Toledo I expected good things. Unfortunately my expectations were not met. The only reason I gave this 3 stars was because the bagel in itself wasn't bad. I got the lox and cream cheese on an everything bagel. The plus was how much lox they gave you on your bagel, it was definitely a generous portion (but for the price I would hope so) and the everything bagel was good. Unfortunately it seemed to be very disorganized, the workers, while nice, were mumbling and hard to hear, and seemed to have problems keeping orders straight while going down the line putting on ingredients. This caused a huge back up in the line so it was going out the door even though it was not even that crowded. The workers kept having to flip the bagels over to check to make sure they were using the right bagel. It was pretty slow going. There really weren't too many options for breakfast bagels. I also wasn't thrilled in seeing them using the microwave to heat up all the egg/cheese/meat bagels. It wsas not evenly heated and seems lazy. They cut each bagel by hand with a knife which shows due to the multiple bandaids I could see on their hands through their gloves. I asked about a bagel slicer machine and they acted like they had never heard of one before. Which led to another backup in line when someone ordering a bakers dozen to go wanted all of them pre-sliced so he had to do it by hand vs. Using a machine which would have been much easier for the workers. Lastly I was very disappointed at beverage options. I understand if they don't want to offer espresso style drinks- they're a bagel shop not a coffee shop, that being said your rear coffee should be good, which it was not. I tried their basic brew, my boyfriend tried the creme brulee, they were both either old and stale or just bad coffee. They also didn't provide juice options. The person at the register stated they get minute maid in the plastic containers delivered from coke and they had not been by that week so they had no juice, but to me as bagels are more often than not a breakfast meal, you should invest in a juice machine. Again, the bagels we had were not bad, the set up is way too easily backed up and even though they are new everything seemed to be very disorganized. Sport to say but I'll still be driving out to Sawmill to Einstein's or Worthington for Bruegers. I had really high hopes for us finally getting a bagel place, but as a success in Toeldo some things shouldn't...
Read moreI am a regular for Barry Bagels, the food is great & it can be delivered by the restaurant or multiple delivery sites. I always get an eggel with cheese on a toasted bagel with their lite veggie cream cheese (which is too good, you can see chunks of real veggies in it!) & I like to add onion & tomato to complete my sandwich. The staff is usually very nice, friendly & helpful, however there have been a few mornings I've ordered my sandwich & the consistency of how it's made has been lacking. One day I'll get the cream cheese on both sides of the bagel, the next day I won't, personally I like it on both sides, so it's definitely a disappointment when I see a naked side - luckily I keep cream cheese here at work, but it's not BB's so, it's not the same. However, overall, these bagels are delicious & full of flavor; the everything, jalapeno cheddar & spinach feta are my top 3, definitely get them toasted. Jen, one of the managers, is always so so so helpful & amazing, accommodating everyone's needs. This place, regardless of the inconsistency of my sandwiches' cream cheese, still receives 5 stars from me because it's fresh, not frozen like Panera Bread (plus it's not extremely overpriced either) - definitely recommend trying it out, even if you already have & had a sub-par experience. Give it a second chance :)
UPDATE 9/24/18: So after taking the advice of specifying I would like cream cheese on both sides, I continue to get full sandwiches. Today’s eggel consists of a toasted jalapeño cheddar bagel with egg & I request the low fat veggie cream cheese on both sides of the bagel... I barely got enough cream cheese to cover ONE side. I’m usually a mess eating these with the awesome amount of cream cheese they slather on, but today I am disappointed that I can barely taste the cream cheese at all 🤦🏻♀️...
Read moreThis place use to be Awesome and now it is a down right disappointment. I use to buy a dozen bagels weekly but the consistency started declining so I stopped. Tired of flat or half risen bagels. So i hadn't been for a while. So i stopped in to pick some up. There are 2 people working out front. One at the register and one making bagels. There are several in the back. You can see them sitting in the office. The person working the counter kept asking for help. No one would come to help. There was even an argument between workers because out of the 3 people in the office only one was on their break. 10 minutes later one of the people come out to help without a care in the world. Who cares people have been waiting for more than 15 minutes just to place an order. Now is the really troubling part. We decided to give them one more try. My wife bought a dozen bagels and a pound of cream cheese online. No surprise the bagels were there usual half risen mess but the real issue was. They gave my wife a half pound of cream cheese when she paid for a pound. She emailed the company and received a response from one of their joke of a managers. Who acted like she made it up until she produced pictures and a receipt. Sorry we don't need to try to beat you out a half pound of cream cheese but clearly the manager felt he did with his response. He literally asked well what do you want me to do about it. I don't know how about you give us what we paid for. Hard to believe a bagel company wants to beat its customer out of $5 worth of overpriced cream cheese but i guess when your a thief it really doesn't matter how much it is. Again this is a shame because they were really good at one time. No they have a crooked manger that doesn't care what his staff is doing or care about...
