My wife walks into this location ( 503 S State Rd Westerville Ohio) this past Friday ( 9/18/15 ) to grab a pick up order. She pays, says thank you to the cashier and then begins to walk out. While leaving one employee says to another (the guys that make the pizzas in the back) while looking right at her "Hey look it's a spider monkey." He says it in such a manner to be funny to his buddy and low enough to not be heard. BUT IT WAS HEARD! He's looking right at her and there are no other customers near her as she exits. His buddy next to him snickers and has the look of astonishment like I can't believe you just said that. He looks down to not show his embarrassment. She doesn't tell me for a day or so because her feelings were hurt and she was embarrassed. She event went so far as to look up what a spider monkey was because she was unsure. Why should my wife have to look this up? IT'S 2015, CALLING A BLACK WOMEN A MONKEY IS NOT OK!!! Its disrespectful and will not be tolerated.
Our actions thus far have been to email cooperate but we have not received a response. We also spoke with the store manager Jesse who was very helpful and directed me to the district manager Chris Beattie. Mr Beattie throughout the conversation supplied me with empty apologies and did not seem to grasp the concept or severity of calling a black women, my wife a monkey. He even went so far as to explain to me that the employee admitted to saying what he said but that he was only quoting a movie and that it was not directed towards her. I'm calling BS. He further stated that since the employee that said this is of "mixed decent" that he (Chris Beattie) believes that there were no racial undertones. Again he apologized but the rhetoric before and after the apologies was beyond unsatisfactory.
On average we buy pizza from Papa Johns (this location) 1-2 times a week. My wife and I both work full time, I for Columbus Fire Dept and she for OSU with that a pizza every now and then gives us a break from cooking and thus the ability to spend more time with ourselves and the kids. This is so disheartening because we have come to really like pizza movie night and pizza gameday Saturdays. But now we must take our business elsewhere because Papa Johns has NOT shown that they really understand this situation. Apologies cloaked in excuses and unreturned voicemail messages and emails make this...
Read moreI usualy get good service from this location, but tonight hit me hard in my opinion of the place. One of the people closing not only sounded like he wasn't even listening to me. He had a surprisingly difficult time comprehending my order and my explicit intructions on how I wanted it delivered. I settled for what they suggested because it didn't make sense for me to argue. The man on the phone quoted me 35-45 minutes. An hour later I had to call back to get an idea of when my pizza was going to get here. Same man on the phone had told me it should be there soon and that he had previously quoted me 45 to an hour. I've worked for people like him before who bullshit customers so they don't take the blame. Shame on him! The delivery driver on the other hand was excellent. Very polite and easy going, understanding and relatable. The pizza was in acceptable shape and his visit was pleasant. Almost made me forget how mad I was at the guy on the phone...almost. Also, since I know how things go sometimes in the pizza business, I want to clearify that the phone guy and the driver were two separate people as I have been lied to before(and also witnessed it happen), when a manager will try to explain that it was the same person so it's easier to punish them and not the real person to blame, which is usually the manager or owner...
Read moreI wanted to wait and do my review after I calmed down about my experience with Papa Johns. I wanted to do something special for my girls at the Mason Anthony School of Cosmetology and order pizza for my 40 students. I ordered at 11am and specifically said I need those pizzas by 12:15 because my girls have lunch from 12:30-1pm. I also asked for plates and napkins. 12:15 goes by, no pizzas, 12:30 goes by, no pizzas, I call and the manager tells me they got swamped and delivery is on its way. Delivery gets to the school at 12:52 and brings the pizza with no plates. Like come on, who gets 8 pizzas and no plates?? When I said to the driver “you didn’t bring us plates?” His reply back was “Enjoy” and walked away. Enjoy what? Late pizza and eat in our hands? I called the manager said she would call back. No discounts, no refunds, nothing. Customer service was horrible and I will NEVER order from Papa Johns again! I provide services and would never treat my client the way they treated me after spending $200 of my own money to do something nice for the girls in my Esthetic class. Very poor service. We won’t be ordering Pizza again. At least...
