Pasto Italiano Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Westfield

A couple family members and I decided on Pasto Italiano for dinner. The entrance had a nice patio and was fairly well labeled. We entered to a nearly empty dining room. This was surprising, as I was expecting a restaurant with only 5-star ratings to be packed at dinner. We started with bread, calamari, and salads. I enjoyed the appetizers, but the calamari felt a little chewy for my preference. The sauce and banana peppers on the calamari were good. For the main meal, we ordered Parmesan chicken, penne pasta with vodka cream sauce, and shrimp risotto with iced teas to drink. Everything looked good and our orders were correct. There were only a few mentions of improvements to the food. The first was that the pasta with the Parmesan chicken was too buttery and the second was that the vodka cream sauce was very bland. I also noted that the iced tea had an odd taste like it was bottled instant mix or was from the soda fountain. The service was average, only getting refills once my drink was completely empty. Overall, not a bad meal but I left unimpressed. The bill for three people was a steep $100, which did not match the more casual food and ambiance. Next time I'm in the mood for Italian food, I may look elsewhere before...

My first time going here; I had decided to take my sister here to enjoy her birthday. I’m gluten free and I was surprised to see GF options on the menu. We both had a good time, food was good, place was clean, but we both felt uncomfortable. I think it was the vibe from the hostess and a few members of the staff. They weren’t mean, but they acted like we weren’t welcome, I don’t know how to describe this any better. We also heard her have a rude interaction with a customer who wanted to go sit at the bar (young attractive female wearing a crop top). She made a comment about how she probably wasn’t old enough and said “we card here” in a rude way as the customer continued walking to the bar. The hostess and 2 other women then stood at the hostess stand talking poorly about the female customer at the bar. We were sitting right by the entire awkward situation. This is in reply to the review of Sabrina Bewley from yesterday, 12/17/20. What Ms Bewley is not telling you is that she is a food delivery driver. She arrived and demanded they supply a take-out order and give her 30% of the bill.

She was told by management that they have a policy of not using food delivery services that in effect, hold the restaurant ransom, then deliver an inferior service. Who then gets the blame? The restaurant of course!

She arrived at Pasto Italiano without the permission or knowledge of the restaurant with an order. Her company takes 30% of the order, with no guarantee the food will be delivered in a way that will maintain the quality Pasto Italiano requires.

It was in fact Ms Bewley that was “pushy and abrasive.” She should be ashamed of herself for posting a review when she was not even a customer of this great restaurant...
