A Hidden Gem That Nourishes the Soul and Stomach – A Five-Star Experience at Zohir’s Indian Kitchen
From the moment you walk into this warm, inviting Indian restaurant, you’re treated like family. The ambiance is cozy yet vibrant, the aromas are intoxicating, and the experience? Absolutely unforgettable. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the man behind it all—Zohir.
Exceptional Hospitality
Zohir, the owner, is a rare gem in today’s hospitality world. Friendly, gracious, and deeply connected to his community, he makes a point to personally greet each guest with warmth and genuine appreciation. Even during the height of the pandemic, when many restaurants shuttered, Zohir kept his doors open—not just to stay afloat, but to serve the community. He provided comfort through cuisine, often going above and beyond to ensure everyone had access to a hot meal. His resilience, passion, and heart are palpable in every corner of the restaurant.
A Culinary Celebration
Now, let’s talk about the food—which is nothing short of extraordinary. Every dish is a celebration of flavor, tradition, and creativity. Highlights include: • Butter Chicken: Rich, creamy, and full of deep, smoky tandoori flavor. The sauce is so addictive, you’ll want to bathe in it. • Lamb Rogan Josh: Tender lamb simmered in an aromatic, spicy curry that hits every note perfectly. • Paneer Tikka Masala: A vegetarian delight with soft, grilled paneer floating in a tomato-based gravy that’s perfectly balanced between tangy and savory. • Garlic Naan: Pillowy, fresh from the tandoor, and absolutely perfect for soaking up every last bit of sauce. • Biryani: Fragrant, fluffy rice infused with spices and served with raita, it’s a dish that stands on its own as a full meal. • Mango Lassi: Creamy, refreshing, and the ideal palate cleanser between bites of spice and richness.
Service That Feels Like Home
The service is impeccable—attentive without hovering, quick but never rushed. The staff is knowledgeable, courteous, and seems to genuinely love being there, which reflects back onto the guests.
Final Thoughts
Dining at Zohir’s restaurant is more than just a meal—it’s an experience that touches your heart. It’s where resilience meets passion, and where every bite tells a story. Whether you’re a die-hard fan of Indian cuisine or trying it for the first time, this place is a must-visit. Come hungry, leave full—in every sense of the word.
Five stars aren’t enough. Thank you, Zohir, for feeding us with both...

Being from London, I think I know what decent Indian food should taste like, and this doesn't even qualify as "bad", because it's worse than that.
Tonight we ordered several dishes: Lamb Vindaloo (which is traditionally "hot"), Chicken Korma (which is traditionally mild, but they ask the customer how spicy they'd like EVERY DISH...(sigh), Bhindi Bhaji (okra) which we ordered MILD, chicken biriyani (same thing) and a mashed eggplant dish.
The lamb was so overcooked that it was like eating a lump of damp sawdust. The "curry", in which it was submerged, was completely UN-SEASONED (no trace of salt anywhere), there was no balance (needed acid of some description) and was overflowing with a thick layer of orange colored grease. Also, they sent it with no heat whatsoever (mild not at all hot).
The chicken korma was also overcooked. It was bland and didn't taste anything like a Korma. That, too, was very greasy and bland.
This restaurant likes to use white meat chicken in ALL THEIR CHICKEN DISHES. Those of you who don't know, this is NEVER used in Indian dishes. Dark meat chicken gives the curry a lot of flavour and stands up to the long cooking times that curries require. White meat is too mild and delicate for the strong spices and hours long cooking times. This was the case with the chicken biriyani we ordered, which was painfully overcooked, dry as a bone, un-seasoned and greasy.
The BBhaji was also overcooked, and the okra was sitting in a pool of (the same) orange grease. There was NO flavour or seasoning whatsoever, and they had put so much raw cayenne pepper into it that it was inedible (and I like my curries hotter than most). We has ordered it "mild" for the kids and it came "very hot".
The same applied to the eggplant, which was tasteless, unseasoned and too hot even for me. In fact, because they add the "heat" at the last moment, to the pre-made curry, it is uncooked, bitter, and the tiniest bit burned my esophagus so much that it actually hurt for a couple of minutes.
I don't know what these people think they're doing; not only does the food have no taste and no seasoning, but it has no identity, it's overcooked, greasy and they use the same tasteless "base" curry sauce for seemingly every dish (everything tastes identical, looks identical, etc.)
Stay away.
If you want Indian food that tastes like Indian food, you're better off going to Whole Foods or Sprouts and buying a couple of "Saffron Road"...

Having grown up in London and pretty much lived on Westbourne Grove (the most amazing conflagration of Indian restaurants,) I have had a hard time finding a restaurant that meets expectations here in Los Angeles. At last, and on my own doorstep, I have found one! The curries are perfectly seasoned and spiced, (always a choice to customize your level of spice,) the veggies the same and the rice cooked to perfection!(very important!). The restaurant itself is clean and basic but the food is top notch! Highly recommend. It’s outstanding food!! UPDATE: One of the most important things about a good restaurant, in my opinion, is consistency. Anarbagh maintains this, excellently. My daughter and I went this weekend and actually dined "in" for the first time! It was spectacular as always. The atmosphere was unpretentious and felt authentic. The welcome was warm and friendly and I was lucky enough to be allowed into the kitchen to thank the chef and his staff. Again everyone was welcoming and generous. I was surprised at how quiet and focused the kitchen was...a testament to the seriousness with which they treat their craft! Worth the journey from...
