Big miss for us. We we're excited to try this place but our service was quite horrendous. We started our order with an app and two kids meals. Kids meals came but the app did not. As time went by, notably noticed other tables being seated and served the very app we ordered. We asked our server about the app and she assured us it's on its way. So we placed the rest of our order including a snack like option that would come out "immediately" as the server stated because, well yea, we were starving. Some more time passes and another table is seated near us. Then they also were served food before us. At that point I just wanted to leave. It had been over an hour and a half. I spoke to the front of house manager about our experience and I expressed my disappointment and that I just wanted to leave. She said she would comp the meal and encouraged us to wait for the food because "it's just coming out" and they would place all the items to go. I accepted their offer but when we get home we come to find only two things that we had ordered. The other 3 items were not there but there were some other random items we didn't order. So I call them and ask what's going on? There was a lot of confusion apparently/obviously. I really wanted to give the place a second chance but being sent home with the wrong food when I already wanted to leave really left a literal and figurative bad taste in my mouth. I feel I exercised a deep level of patience and empathy since I'm a seasoned professional as well but all in all this was a rough experience to simply forget or let go.

On this particular visit, the place was about ¾ capacity at 5:30 and by 7:30 it had emptied out quite a bit. This was fall, but the summer may be a lit busier because they have a nice sized patio. The menu has a good selection of sandwiches, appetizers, and entrees to choose from. Our server says that the menu changes frequently, so it doesn'tt get stale. The kitchen was constantly bringing out food, so you won't wait a long time to be served. During this visit, our table ordered the Clambake, the Salmon, BBQ Shrimp & Grits, The salmon was super tender and flacky. It came with grilled sliced veggies. The shrimp & grits was a large portion with about 7pcs of shrimp. The grits were creamy and smooth with a good flavor The Clambake was a good-sized portion but a little disappointing. It came with a dozen little neck clams, clam chowder, redskin potatoes, ½ chicken, bread, and about a ½ piece of corn on the cob that was cut into 3 pieces. Most of the food on the clambake was cold. The butter was not only cold, but it just tasted like oil. The chowder was really good. It had large chunks of potato & clams in it and was very flavorful. The chicken was moist and had a nice crisp to the skin with a real good flavor. They also have a good selection of desserts, which looked real good passing by but no one at our table had tried anything. I will try this place again in the future to see what new items they put on the menu.

I was rather disappointed with my first experience ordering from this restaurant. With the reviews I saw on here, I thought it would be much better. Our fries were very thin and soggy. They tasted like grease and salt. Our oyster po boy was ok. It was a lot of bread for my liking. It only had a couple of pieces of oyster on it as well. Most of my bites were primarily of bread and lettuce. I didn’t think it was worth the $16 I spent on it. The fried clam strips were actually pretty decent but they forgot to include the sauce with our order. The clam strips didn’t have much flavor to them so we ended up using ketchup. Not exactly what I expected for $15. The bread pudding was the worst part of our meal aside from the fries. The top was very hard and dry. The bottom had a little more moisture and a better texture but it hardly had any flavor to it. It was very underwhelming for $8. I have had better bread pudding from a cafeteria. Once again, I am shocked by how disappointing our experience here was. We paid $43 for a rather subpar meal. It didn’t inspire confidence in us actually eating in the restaurant. I’m just glad that we only ordered takeout so we didn’t waste any more money.

Subject: Disappointing Experience Due to Miscommunication and Misleading Information It’s unfortunate that what started as a great evening was completely ruined by a lack of proper communication and misleading information. A group of us visited Salty Mary’s specifically for the advertised happy hour special — 3 half-shelled oysters for $5 and $5 draft beers. We even called ahead to confirm that happy hour was available, and at no point were any restrictions mentioned regarding seating or oyster selection. When we arrived, we ordered oyster shooters and then a variety of oysters to sample. Our waitress described several types — both East and West Coast — and we placed our orders expecting to enjoy the happy hour specials. Everything was great until the bill arrived. We were charged full price for everything. When we questioned it, the waitress explained that happy hour pricing only applied at the bar — something that was never mentioned on the phone, on the sign, or by the waitress. When we asked to speak with a manager, she instead offered to bring the head chef, which was confusing since this was clearly a service-related issue. One member of our group eventually spoke with the bartender, who adjusted the beers to happy hour pricing but left the oysters at full price. When we asked about that, we were told that only the Chesapeake oysters were part of the special — again, something not indicated anywhere. His only explanation was that “it’s always been that way,” but as first-time customers, there’s no way we could have known that. Up until receiving the bill, we had been discussing making this a regular monthly spot and even bringing our families. Unfortunately, due to this poor experience and lack of clear communication, we’ve decided we won’t be...

party of 4, our server was Andre. he was INCREDIBLE! attentive, knowledgeable, and was around just enough to know that we are taken care of but not abandoned or in our space too much, the shrimp tacos were decent, the shishito peppers were amazing, great char and nice sweet flavor accompanying the pepper. the fries were also lovely being quite thin and flavorful but without an overbearing amount of salt, the spoonbread was nice and sweet and provided a tasteful contrast between the savoury entree. BUT ONTO THE SALMON! this was the one of most tender salmons ive ever eaten, i barely put my fork on the salmon and it began flaking, i ordered it medium well so keep that in mind if you have a different preference. the salmon was delicate and the seasoning accompanied the salmon so nicely, it was not overpowering at all. the portion of veggies was also a lot which i loved, but if you dont, you should consider eating more veggies since this restaurant makes them very well. i also ordered a side of their lobster which was so tender and the meat was delicate. andre was very attentive and his memory created an even more seamless experience, he even gave us a complimentary chocolate tarte, which was a rich dark chocolate chip brownie topped by an even richer dark chocolate ganache. i think it’s important i mention i came here with my mother who might be the pickiest eater in all of existence and she said she can’t wait to come back for the salmon, we are genuinely impressed by Salty Mary’s hospitality and commitment to putting out good food. and a special thank you to Andre for being an absolute legend and representing the restaurant exceptionally, you gave us such a good first...

Unfortunately, our experience was not great. Taking into consideration that it was busy, I expected to have a wait. The atmosphere was lively from the moment you walked in. Great smells, lots of conversation buzzing and laughter, it seemed like a great place to come eat. But I was not impressed. I hadn't expected empty drinks for long periods of time, all of my family to have their meals while I waited almost 10 additional minutes to get my lobster roll. I know it sounds silly, but my son was near done eating his meal by the time I got mine. But moving on: Each meal was good. Blackened salmon- good but surprisingly small portion, Burger- good, snow crab-excellent-But the potatoes with it were super super dry, couldn't swallow without a sip of water. Clam linguine meal- my husband enjoyed, not my fancy but you could tell the spice and flavors bursting from the dish were great. Lobster roll- soggy, I did not eat the bread and just ate the lobster from it. 1/2 dozen oysters- excellent. I was severely disappointed that they did not have any sort of meals for kids though. I understand that it is geared towards adults, but we had 2 children in our party, so it would have been nice to give them some choices that they would have a better time eating. I must say it wasn't all negative though. The staff was polite and welcoming, the establishment was clean, and and it had a good atmosphere. But due to all other aspects of the visit, I will not be back. If I am going to be paying for high end dining then I would prefer to have good food, service,...
