tldr; food wasn't up to par, waitress was horribly rude and this was the worst experience I've EVER had at a restaurant. Beware.

My mom and I used to come here before they changed owners, and it was delicious. Today, we stopped in and wasn't even greeted at all, we just sat down after awkwardly standing waiting for someone. I ordered an horchata and a water, mom ordered Sangria and a water. I asked for Queso, which usually is the light cheese dip, and the waitress came out with this wierd congealed cheese mess in a wierd soup stuff. It was ok but there was really no way to eat it except fling cheese around. That's not what I ordered. I told her and she was like, yup that's the cheese sauce. Any other place would have just apologized and taken it back. We asked for water yet again and more chips. About 20 minutes goes by, and we're still waiting on water when our food finally comes out. My mom gets her tortas, and finds that it has this wierd breaded thin steak on it and no mayo. I got the chimichonga, and it's got shredded chicken that was severely un-seasoned with PILLED lettuce on the top and a sad smear or guacamole and cheese on top the Mexican rice has a wierd flavor to it.

Still no water.

She finally brings over water after the 3rd time asking, and we complain about the food. Immediately, the waitress (she had almost a buzz cut) starts asking in a super rude way "What's wrong with it"? When my mom told asked her what's with the breaded meat, and she said, "it's what you ordered," ok well we didn't know what "Melinaisa" was, and unfortunately there wasn't a description on what it was. Again, she acted very rude and said "well if you would read what's on the menu, you'd know what it is" sadly, we don't speak Spanish, and that wasnt the poiny. When it got to my complaint, she was like "what's wrong with yours" and I explained that it just didn't taste very good. Then she said " well no one else ever complained about it so what do you want?" She started getting louder so everyone could hear, and I just said that I didn't want to pay for it, because it's not good. When I went to the front to pay, she said $11 and I said "just for the drinks and cheese, right?"(cheese that I didn't even want) and she said to my face in my eyes, "What do you want me to charge you more?"

This was really summed up, but NO WAITRESS should ever back talk customers who just didn't like the food. This waitress was the rudest person I've had the displeasure of meeting, and we will not be returning, the food could have been saved, but that rude waitess was the thing that's going to keep me and other customer's...

I want to start by saying I reserved my judgement of this establishment until after my 2nd visit. My first visit left me very unhappy due to the fact that the young lady working the front having a terrible attitude. I understand that sometimes restaurants have bad days so I decided not to review hoping my next experience would be better. Today I visited and was pleasantly surprised that the young lady working the front was very nice, polite and willing to answer my questions. After ordering, she told me that it would be a 15-10 minute wait. No problem. I wait in my car. At the 15 minute mark, 2 couples had entered the establishment. I gave extra time before I went in at the 25 minute mark. As I entered, no one was at the front to greet me. I waited another 7 minutes before the young lady came out. Keep in mind, the couplea that came in after me were already eating. My food still wasn't ready and she said "I'll go check on your order". I couldn't understand how a 15-20 min order became a 40 min order. Especially considering those that came after me were already eating. I didn't complain. Just thanked her and went home. I got home and realized that my order was wrong. Contacted the restaurant and told them I'd come pick up the correct item. At this point I was upset because now its almost an hour later and I still don't have the correct food. I get back to the restaurant and ask to speak to the manager and was met by her daughter. I calmly explain my frustration and she understood but gave me no resolve. She apologized but simply said "I don't know what happened." I asked what did they do to compensate customers with customer service issues and she said "you can come back tomorrow and talk to Julie". Not only did I waste an hour of time, but now my food has gotten cold and I couldn't enjoy it. That combined with the lack of compensation on their part is what results in this review. I really wanted to make this place a regular for me, but after this I will not...

I'm a regular, or "was" a regular. The food was always good to a point, service is extremely hit or miss and tonight was the last time we will dine here. Our favorite waitress quit few months prior. She told us she could not take the disorganization and rudeness of her coworkers. Tonight we sat down and ordered tacos. Other parties came in after us and we're served their dinner, but our dinner never came. When I inquired as to where our dinner was the waitress said she would go look. She came back out and started taking another order and making her rounds instead of updating us. I asked her to come back over and inquired why people who came in after us were served their food and we are still waiting over an hour for tacos?? Finally she told me it was being made. I told her to just forget it. She stormed away angry as if this was our fault. I went to the register to pay for our drinks. I told the girl behind the register about our experience and she could have cared less. Her response to me was she knows I'm a regular but many times when I come in I'm rude! Can you believe she said that to me. I told her that was very offensive and a poor excuse for horrible service. She than said they maybe the waitress was having a bad day did I even consider that! I told her none of this has been handled professionally. You should have just apologized for my experience but instead you make shallow excuses and insult me. They are very rude in this place and do not care about their customers. I told her not to worry as we will never come back! There are too many other choices in Mexican restaurants all over the area. If I owned this place the 2 girls would be fired on the spot. Bad service is one thing, but insulting customers us totally...

It looked like the servers were closing up for the night, so I double checked they still for sure wanted us to eat. They did! And they were so kind and welcoming and offered information we didn't know without having to ask. I have been told if you see el pastor on the menu, order it! I knew enough on my own that lengua is a rare treat so yes definitely ordered that and got a beef Taco. All superb! All cooked perfectly. We were just happening by from an hour and a half trip. Now we know that when we go to Westland again we go to El Mariachi! I'm so bummed I didn't see the elote on the board at first because my little boy loves that! So we will have to come back. Thanks!

Wife and I both had the combination, paid the up charge to exchange burritos for enchiladas. My daughter got the kids burrito. Food was great, and my daughter went to town. I wish I could have gotten a picture of her face when she seen fried ice cream for first time. I wish I would have looked closer at the menu and realized cheese sauce was not the same as queso and chips. Pretty quiet, not a lot of people at once but they came and went as we were there. This is definitely somewhere to go for an authentic Mexican meal.

We haven't been here in years since it was the New Mexico restaurant. We had dinner here and it was as delicious as before! There was only one server, so it was a few minute wait to be seated, but our orders came quickly, and the server was great. I had the three taco plate (al pastor, chicken, and more al pastor because I don't like steak), with refried beans, and my new favorite, black bean salad. It was all delicious! My husband had the shrimp tacos, which were also really good. Oh, and yes, the salsa is excellent.
