With great anticipation of eating one of Gabriel's Cheese steak Hoagies that I hadn't had in over 50 years, boy was I disappointed. The meat is not the chopped steak I remembered, it was closer to something that didn't have the mouth feel of the delicious meat of the past. It was more like semi ground dog meat I wouldn't serve to any human. The cheese was impossible. The red pepper mix was not to be compared to the jalapeno that were once an option.

I was embarrassed as I had bragged to my husband "Gabriel's had the best Hoagies in Michigan". He didn't like them at all.

To those of you who think these are great hoagies I feel sorry for you for not experiencing the Hoagie I grew up enjoying.

To those who are reading the rave reviews who are thinking about trying one, warning THESE ARE NOT GABRIEL'S...

Usually, the steak subs are awesome. For some reason, the one I had last night was not up to the usual quality. For now, I'm going to assume it was an aberration.

It's a bit of a ride to go there. It's not close to any freeways. The other location in Ypsilanti tends to be better, but it's even further, unless we happen to be going to Ann arbor or Ypsilanti. For either one, usually, we try to arrange to go there on the way to somewhere else, so that it's not a special trip.

Anyway, if the one last night turns out to be the new norm, I wouldn't make a special trip there again. Hopefully, it was just the one sub. I bought two last night. I have high hopes for the other one, which I haven't yet eaten.

They're still pretty good even if not...

The food is always great and everything is FRESH!! Not something you can say about most places. Amanda always gets our orders done perfect and the whole staff is AMAZING!! Do not miss out on this place..I would also like to add that Daniel and Candice and Amanda are the best at getting our orders right and let me tell you I mean right down to the T! Please do yourself a favor and try their food and service I Promise you will not be sorry.

Again today 4/27/2023 The staff went above and beyond I cannot tell you how much it means to have someone do as you ask with your food but I PROMISE if you try the subs and salads you will not regret it. Good job you gals and guys keep up...
