Every Bite Feels Like Coming Home 🏡
From the moment we walked through the doors of Cơm Tấm Đào Viên, we were treated like more than customers—we were welcomed like family. The kind woman at the front didn’t just take our order; she guided us through the menu with such warmth and patience, answering every question and explaining each dish with care. Even when I spilled orange juice on my brand-new shirt, the hospitality and food quickly turned my day around.
The meal itself was unforgettable. The Vietnamese sausage wrapped in leaf brought a smoky, herbal depth that danced across the palate. The pork wrapped in shrimp and crab was silky, tender, and perfectly seasoned—every bite a harmony of land and sea. And the egg frittata, soufflé-like and delicately rich, felt like something passed down from a grandmother’s kitchen. The fish sauce deserves special praise—it didn’t just flavor the dish, it tasted like the ocean itself—clean, deep, and balanced. As we sat and ate, even the locals made us feel like we belonged. There was laughter, shared space, and that rare feeling of being somewhere genuine. At Đào Viên, you're not just eating—you’re breaking bread with a community. And that’s something you...
Read moreIt’s my first time here but not for the people in my group, I only came because of the AYCE cơm tấm, I don’t think they have done it anywhere before, I didn’t like the fact they limited on the Korean galbi and jumbo prawns, how do you call it AYCE if you restrict on rules, and also limit the time from all day to 5-8 PM, I don’t live in the area so I have to plan ahead to get there. The table is very small for 4 people, we pretty much didn’t have enough room to set up our food and eat them at the same time. The food was plenty but they tasted pretty average nothing outstanding. They charge extra for everything else included mỡ hành, tóp mỡ, and ice water. The staff did warn us to not order a lot to prevent food waste. Other than that I don’t know if I want to come back for the second time just because I don’t like being controlled when I do all you can eat, don’t waste food by ordering too much is a good thing, but limit on how many time you can order on a specific item, it makes me feel the same vibe as those Korean BBQ who didn’t allow you to order on certain meats, I guess it depends on the location, but if you’re gonna pay that amount of money for an experience then it shouldn’t...
Read moreBroken rice evokes a sense of nostalgia for me. Soaked in nuoc mam with a mix of hot protein and pickled cabbage, com tam reminds me of my childhood and growing up in Garden Grove. I deeply craved com tam for lunch while driving my grandma around. We usually go to Thanh on Bolsa but my grandma wanted to try someplace new.
You might think 3 stars, not a great review. But it's pretty average. My dish was $9.99 which is comparatively pricy and plus, it only came with one shrimp and no cucumbers. Strange to not have cucumbers. We ended up chopping our own as we had taken it to-go. Taste-wise, it hit the spot for me. There was more rice so I felt like my bites didn't have enough variety. My grandma wasn't a fan of her short ribs and gave her half to me for leftovers.
We took advantage of the BOGO offer but they only had thai tea at the time. My grandma preferred it to be sweeter: you can taste mostly the tea. To each their own.
It's highly unlikely I'll come back to this place as it's out of my way. But if I happen to be in the area and have a crave, I may return here or Google another...
