The wishbone restaurant has been operated by the same family for many decades. I believe it has been rated by Americas best as #1 in the U.S. for it's fried chicken and other dishes which they have many. It is definitely focused on the quality & taste of all their food & menue choices. Cleanliness, friendly, excellent service, and really great value are what they are known for. We have been going to the Wishbone for more years than I can remember and have taken friends and family that had never been there, and even single one of them agreed that the Wishbone serves the best fried chicken they have ever tasted. My wife and I were talking about if I had to pick a last meal, what would that be? With all the great places from Colorado Springs to Fort Collins the Wish Bone is one of my few favorites. The thighs and gizzards, OMG, they are so good n hot, with a crunchy outer coating, juicy on the inside, I dip them in the light gravy, served with a baked potato, Texas toast, honey if you want & some pickel slices, I am in comfort food heaven. I know this was a long review, but I love this restaurant so much and the family and staff, they work so hard, and are dedicated to making sure their customers are happy, more than satisfied and never leave hungry. I know everyone has different tastes, but I think you may be surprised at just how great the Wishbone is. They have plenty of parking, easy for people and families to access, they have pick up & take out, child friendly, and clean restrooms. the restaurant may not be fancy, it is comfortable and inviting, kind retro or a throw back to the 50s / 60s. You will not be...

This restaurant is very special to me. I had my first date there with the love of my life on September 23, 2017. We decided on this place because of the good wholesome looking food in it's advertisements. We drove to this place on a dreary/rainy day in the beautiful mile high city of Denver. The weather perfectly offset the tasty fulfilling fried chicken my love and l both had. The host was great to my better half. He complimented her like a gentleman should and shook my hand in acknowledgement that I'm one lucky man. We were promptly seated and asked what we'd like to quench our thirst (besides each other). Unbeknownst to us we both love the American classic which is a tall glass of fresh brewed iced tea. We loved taking in the throwback atmosphere there where each booth has a coat hanger and 50s/60s bepop plays over the loudspeaker that reminded us to where taking your honey out on a date was the ultimate goal in a young person's life. The waitress was very attentive and took our order with perfection. We both ordered the the number 3 "Kings half chicken" our orders only differed with her having a desire for cole slaw and my hankering for mash potatoes with brown gravy. Let me just say the food hit the proverbial spot. It was a site to see a 5'2" 120 lb firecracker enjoy her food so much. You made her day which in turn makes my day. Thank you Wishbone restaurant for a memory that will be with us for decades to come.

Best regards, Sunshine...

If you're missing the traditional family-owned restaurant with classic American fare, look no further than the Wishbone. Great for multigenerational family meals or a quick bite with the family.

The Americana interior and warm woods invite patrons in and feel like a slice of times gone by. The family who owns the restaurant runs front of house and are jovial, friendly, and make you feel at home every time.

They are pretty busy anytime we've gone but the dining area has significant seating so we've never had a wait to be seated.

The main feature on the menu is variations of fried chicken, but there are many other options from salads to sandwiches and platters.

Only downside is the side salads arents super exciting but that is greatly outweighed by the chocolate cake for dessert.

Great place to take the family, baby and small child friendly.

The waitstaff are friendly and fast.

They have daily specials that rotate throughout the week meaning lots of variety for entrees.

Plenty of parking and accessible spaces. Take out to go is offered and has a separate entrance

Overall this is one of my favorite spots in...

Came here for lunch after some locals were insistent on the fried chicken. It's an old fashioned diner that's been around the 60's so I was a little hesitant. It was peak lunch time and busy, but there were some open tables. Server was friendly and helpful. She asked if it was anyone's first time so could make some recommendations. She recommended the fried chicken just like my local counterparts. Too everyone's advice and ordered a combo plate of fried chicken and fried shrimp. After about 10 minutes, I learned they were absolutely correct. Fried chicken is a common dish, but they perfected it. Very crispy on the outside, yet very juicy on the outside and flavorful throughout. The gravy that comes with it was perfect for dunking. It was 3 generous portions that came with a choice of potatoes and a starter garden salad. Finished the meal with a small cup of pineapple coconut ice cream. Old school diner serving up amazing food. I know why it's highly recommended and has been around for over 60 years.

It's been a few years, since I last visited. I decided to go again today because I was in the area. Service and food was great the last time I visited and I had the same great service and food today. It's a very welcoming atmosphere and even the customers are very friendly too. The servers are very attentive. This place has a "homey" feel to it, sort of like when I lived in the South. They had a good selection to choose from although, they are famous for their chicken. The prices were good and they serve huge portions. I had to get a box before I was halfway into the meal. I love chicken gizzards but never cook them so I only eat them here. Even if you don't like gizzards, I think my pictures did it justice. The batter is very light and the gizzards were tender. I had a side salad with ranch dressing and the dressing was light and flavorful. There is plenty of seating on the inside and plenty of parking on the outside with lots of handicap parking right out in front. I highly recommend it, great experience.

First time here. We didn't wait to be seated, but waited almost 30 minutes for our food. Place is family owned and operated since 1963. It is a large building and inside is just as big! It reminds me of the, "diners," from back East. My husband's salad was the left- over lettuce that you usually throw away and the dressing came in a small plastic container. He ordered the chicken fried steak and it came with a yellow sauce, instead of a creamy white sauce. He didn't like the yellow sauce, but said the chicken was good. We also received 2 slices of Texas toast that had a funny taste (margarine or maybe old oil) and greasy. I ordered their fried chicken, what they are known for. I can see why they have a large dedicated take-out area and huge following. The chicken was moist and tender inside, with a delicious crispy coating that wasn't greasy! So I highly recommend their fried chicken.
