I came here to order a cake for my boyfriend’s birthday and Valentine’s Day last week, the cake was delicious but I am unhappy with the customer service. I came in the night before to preorder the cake and the employee said that they had the ingredients to make it. I was then given a call 3 hours before I was coming to pick it up that they did not have the ingredients for the smaller cake I ordered but they had ingredients for the bigger cake. They wanted to refund my order and charge me again except more even though it is their fault for not double checking their ingredients. It does not make sense that they had the ingredients for the cake but could only make the larger one despite me ordering the smaller one which I thought it was unfair that I was getting charged more even though I never wanted the larger cake with a larger price. I was unable to clarify this over the phone so when coming in to the store to pick up my cake, I wanted to talk to the owner. While discussing with the owner and cashier, the owner midway conversation walked away from me which was completely unprofessional. The cashier tried her best to help me but it seemed as if she was afraid to ask her boss to not charge me for the larger cake since it was their fault that they told me it was okay to order the smaller cake the night before. After 20 minutes, I was able to get a discount on the cake but it was unnecessary because the price ended up being less than what I originally paid for the smaller cake with tip. It was so much time wasted even though I ordered it the night before to save time. Delicious bakery but the owner should learn to be more professional. If this were to happen again, the shop is at fault so the customer should not have to pay more for the shop’s mistakes, the owner should not walk away midway conversation with the customer and their employees should not be afraid to ask questions...
Read moreWords can not describe how happy I am to see a Tous Les Jours (뚜레쥬르) here in Colorado. I'm a Colorado native who went to work in LA for the last few years and now back as a transplant doing work from home. I've been extremely impressed with the growing presence of Korean/Asian eateries out here, but the bakery game was always lacking.
There was a small bakery called Paris Bakery (Paris Jaegwah) next to Sushi Katsu that is long gone that came pretty close. I've tried the other ones, but classic Korean bakery items like Ssaengcream (fresh cream) cake were nowhere to be found. Korean cakes are difficult to make -- think delicate chiffon cakes with balanced flavors that are less sweeter than the western counterparts.
Some must-tries in my opinion: -Cloud cake / 생크림 케이크 / Fresh cream cake - melts in your mouth delicate and delicious -Curry croquette - I've only tried the meat version, but it's delectable. Crunchy and warm on the outside and filled -Kimchi croquette - I was told it becomes available at 11am -Sorobo - this one may be more of an acquired taste, but it's a classic in Korea. It's a soft bun topped with baked and crunchy peanut streusel (maybe even a marzipan) -Danpatpan - sweet red bean bun -Cheesecake - this gem can be found in the refrigerated section. The flavors are similar to those fluffy Japanese pancakes/souffles -Choux cream bun - filled with vanilla custard
Some cons: -Location - Westminster is a bit of a drive, but it's worth it -Inventory - I suggest to come here early, once the shelves are empty those items are gone for the day. Also certain items are item specific. The croquettes and savory options for example tend to be available around...
Read moreThere are so many issues with this business, I don't even know where to begin. Initially when it first opened I was very enthusiastic about it because there's nothing like it in the area. I'm from California, and I've dearly missed 85 Degrees, another Asian bakery. The first few months were amazing and the products were delicious, but things have changed.
During my last visit, I saw mold on one of the cakes. I was absolutely disgusted because several cakes was located inside a refrigerated display case. One had mold on the fruits and another had mold all over (pink and green/black mold). Mold reproduces by forming spores, so essentially all of the cakes in the display should have been trashed immediately and deemed not fit for consumption, but that's not the case with this bakery. Upon discussion with one of the workers there, the management team (they specifically mentioned a man named Gabriel), directs them to keep cakes in the case as a display to keep it full looking. Even if it has mold on it and in the same case as cakes that are ready to sell?! They also told me that the cakes are not made fresh daily, but have a shelf life of 2 days, but sometimes their manager directs them to sell it pass the expiration date, if it looks fresh enough. When I asked about their non-fruit cakes, they mentioned that their buttercream cakes were not made in house but shipped in, confirming another Google review's claim.
This place creates an illusion of "freshness" when its the complete opposite. Beware of lies and...
