Went in to Galaxy Sushi & Ramen for Take-Out which I was able to do. Newly opened and was very nice inside. A trendy vibe and with a really nice fancy counter with barstools to eat at if desired (a variety of liquor is on the menu). Food is made fresh at the counter when I was there by the person in my photo. Comfortable tables and chairs available. Really nice modern lighting. Ordered 2 ramens (Miso 2 which had Miso broth and Galaxy which had Rich Pork Broth), also 2 normal different shrimp rolls (tempura and shrimp and cucumber) that come together with a small side salad with ginger dressing. Since mine was take-out, the broths were packaged separately from the other ingredients so that the noodles would not get soggy before getting home. It all stayed hot and well packaged for transport. The lady taking my order was very friendly and helpful. Want to mention that Westmont downtown is really beautiful in the summer with the flowers everywhere and such a nice place to go for a lunch or...
Read moreSuper easy to get to if you take the Metra BNSF, we hopped off at the Westmont stop, went up the stairs and it was right there. The service was so SO friendly and helpful with explanations. We went on a Monday at 1:30, we did a lunch special (kinda) choosing between option A, B or C. We picked the C special to share b/n 2 people. That came with 2 appetizers, 3 special rolls and 2 making rolls for $59.95. In the photo, we did a Philly & spicy tuna for the Maki, Mars, Sun & Dragon for the special and spring rolls for the appetizers ( it was 2 spring rolls per person so 4 in total). I had two glasses of Moscato & my friend had a Lychee soju that came in a bottle. I had two shots of her soju that I added to the wine since she couldn't do the whole bottle alone. Spring rolls came out hot, very good, flaky. The rolls were just as good- presentation was so pretty and portioned well. Our total was about $91.00. We both took some home. Extra points because they had the low sodium soy sauce packets! My friend and I decided over apps that we will definitely be...
Read moreService and staff were fine, but the food itself was unfortunately beyond unpalatable. One roll included an incredibly overpowering garnish of raw chopped garlic (still drowning in the thick preserves it was jarred within) that overtook every other ingredient in the roll and another specialty roll was wrapped in mango that seemed soured and tasted far from fresh (the smell of the mango upon arrival was already unpleasant and was reminiscent of mildew). Also, a deep-fried roll that I had ordered was overly soggy from the frying process when it arrived and had an unpleasantly soft, chewy texture and overtly greasy taste as a result. As someone who is usually very tolerable of different qualities and flavors of food, we found ourselves unable to finish the couple of rolls that we ordered because of how unpleasant the taste was. I hope that the staff will take this criticism well and work to improve the taste of their dishes as they otherwise seemed like a fine restaurant with hard-working and...
