I'll start with the good and the reason why I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1. Their food is very good and they give good portions. Now the bad. I live very close so it's very convenient to go to Marmelly when in the mood for Mexican food. My family and I USED TO pick up orders from them maybe 1 to 2 times a month, often enough that when my wife would order our usual orders they would know who we were. 3 visits ago they forgot to give the sides like cabbage with the pozole. Forgave them as mistakes happen. 2 visits ago they forgot to give us 2 tacos. Forgave them as we just didn't want to go back. Last visit, and literally THE last visit we will have there, I am 100% sure we ordered a burrito dinner, as we always do, and they just gave us the burrito. They didn't give a receipt so we don't know what we paid for but we called to see if they could just give us the beans and rice that were forgotten, as once again, we're frequent customers spending a lot of money each time with our whole family eating there, so we thought asking for $.50 worth of beans and rice to pickup after we just spent $80 there would be a reasonable request, but instead the woman we talked to said we ordered wrong then irritably said we can have the beans and rice, "If you want to come and pay for it." That was enough. They know our family, know our orders, we let their mistakes slide TWICE and they won't give us the benefit of the doubt of giving us $.50 worth of rice and beans? It's not the fact they didn't want to give us the food, it was the CUSTOMER SERVICE of how we were treated and it seemed like, accused, of trying to get something free from them. That's fine, keep your $.50, we'll just spend our larger bills...
Read moreAwesome little local Mexican joint. They have a lot of different menu items here that you will not find at a lot of other Mexican places. It's a fun place to go and try out some new things and there are so many options you can get something new every time. Tamales are a hit and the sopes are pretty tasty too. I like the the burritos already come with Avocado and are a good size and though they are very good, they are not the best I've had as I generally don't like rice in burrito. On the burrito, I also wish it came with Pico de Gallo instead of lettuce. On the other hand, if you like tortas (sandwiches) the Pombazo (torta with chile powder on the bun filled with chorizo and potatoes) and the cemitas (essentially a torta with a special bun) are a must try as well. Horchata was pretty good but ask for no ice as it seemed to taste watered down when I get ice in it.
I also wish they would take all the American menu items like chicken nuggets, hot dogs, and hamburgers off the menu. It's such a beautiful unique Mexican Menu that those unneeded items make the place seem too 'Americanized'. But hey maybe they make these things delicious and they keep them for picky eaters of the groups, Idk I will never try them because I go to a Mexican restaurant for Mexican food and would make anyone who went here with me try the Mexican food!
Overall the food is pretty good, I'd give it 4/5 stars because as I said, the burritos could use another layer of flavor. But the place gets a huge bonus for their expansive, unique menu, low prices, and Courteous employees.
It's really a nice little Mexican place you...
Read moreI've been here a number of times in the last year, it's convenient because I live right up the street, I really want it to work. I've had the al pastor burrito a few times, and a few other things, the foods good. The prices aren't cheap, but they're totally reasonable.
Sadly, they simply just can't take an order, and prepare it properly. Out of the maybe 10 times I've been there, maybe once or twice has everything worked out correctly.
The last time, I ordered 2 burrito dinners, and sat down to wait. It was really cheap so I was pretty sure something went wrong. While waiting they asked me some question about what I wanted on top, which didn't make any sense if I was getting a couple burritos. That's because somehow they rang me up for 2 tacos. So we cleared that up, more than once, I repeated that I wanted 2 separate burrito dinners, and they charged me a few more bucks. 10 minutes later, they give me 1 burrito dinner...
This time, same story, 2 burrito dinners. Nothing went wrong with ordering, but now they are out of rice, so they asked if I wanted double the beans. I asked if there was anything else besides beans, and he said no. No?... Ok, I realized this is not a rational conversation, and said ok.
Like I said there have been similar problems almost every other time. So I just can't say the pain of trying to get what you want is...
