My wife made reservations for my birthday this past Sunday. When we arrived, we were greeted with friendly smiles and a very welcoming atmosphere. We were told that the brunch buffet was the offering and was directed to the room where the food was...

Upon entering the room, my wife and I were both shocked and embarrassed as they were having what seemed like a full-on presentation. There were speakers, and the entire group (a good 40 people ) stared at us as if we were bothering them by coming in. We asked the hostess at the front desk if this was how it was supposed to go? She looked at me after speaking to someone else and gave us the thumbs up......

Thumbs down....way down.

How can you have a full meeting going on the same time food is being offered to the public??

I was almost as if they were like, "Take it or leave it," we left it...

I ordered a shot and a coffee beforehand so I could be ready after I grabbed my plate. My wife was disgusted, and we told our server ( Melissa, I believe ) that we were leaving. Instead of being ignorant, I downed the shot and asked for the check. We waited at the front desk to which Melissa dropped the receipt with a quick "here you go" and walked away... no "sorry about the confusion" from anyone...

Again, I didn't want to be ignorant, paid for my shot, the coffee that never came, and even left a tip.

Guys, you are popular, come on! It was my birthday and my wife was upset. We went elsewhere and had an epic time, but it just seemed like there wasn't a care given whatsoever.

I've been a Chef 30years and to get that type of service was just disheartening. I was really looking forward to trying you guys out as I've heard good things...

This was NOT...

I didn't even get to order anything because I was invited to leave by the owner (twice). We have been to the Mad Hatter many times, starting with the original across from a shopping mall. We decided to visit and called to see if we needed a reservation. We were told it was not necessary so off we went arriving in 15 minutes. There was a waiting line. We understood because it was two days after restaurant openings due to the virus. We waited about 30 minutes and were given a table on the periphery of the dining area. We waited about fifteen minutes without a waiter. Seeing a man dressed like a waiter talking to people, I waved him over thinking we might have fallen through the cracks service wise. I told him in so many words we waited a long time. He asked if I had a reservation. I tried to explain but was interrupted by this guy who was now seeming irate and saying he was the owner. He asked what we wanted to order. When I started to say, he interrupted again telling us about his troubles setting up, the money he lost, his divorce, he had to sell his house and more, winding up with "we could always go someplace else". I told him all this would not make a good review. He told me to go ahead, giving me his name which i don't recall. He then again said I could go someplace else and I decided to leave. On my way out he trailed me shouting obscenities at me in front of everyone in the dining area. All this made for the most unpleasant dining experience I've ever had in eating out on the south shore, Weymouth and Braintree and all over the world in 72 years. I believe this owner has issues maybe with alcohol or drugs and should be reviewed by the Weymouth...

My first time here was excellent! The food was really good and innovative. My 2nd time I brought some dear friends visiting from Dunedin Florida and I was embarrassed to have raved about the place. Very slow service and almost 30 minutes just to get our drinks. We ordered appetizers and over an hour later, we still hadn't been served. Next time I went to Sunday brunch. Very nicely set up buffet with a large selection of anything you might expect from a brunch! Carving/omelet station was very good. Some items in the buffet were mediocre. But all in all a very good bang for the buck 👏 They have a special burger mania night on Wednesdays. Prices are pretty low so that's good. But unfortunately I've yet to be served a good burger at all. I have a group of friends who like to get together there for burger night because it's centrally located for us and the price is right. We've all had mixed feelings about the place, but we've gone five or six times now. I personally will not be going back for burger night. They always seem unprepared and even though the prices are great, the quality isn't. I'm no food critic but I know a good burger when I taste it and they have all disappointed so far. I used to give a lot of businesses bad reviews over lousy service and whatnot. But some 5 years or so ago, I decided to seek out good businesses and give them great reviews. It's been great for both my spirit and karma. This is my first review in a while that I couldn't in good conscience give them anything else but a C-. Not sure when I'll be heading back there. But I sincerely hope that I can give them...

Update Review 02/09/25 came in this morning with my mother 9am Sunday for brunch. The staff here are friendly and welcoming! The Brunch is great you get to pick from pancakes, French toast, home fries, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, a chef makes fresh omelet with topping, and they have steak cut right off the slab. The home fries are delicious and the steak is so so good it’s seasoned well tender and mouth watering delicious! Also have fresh fruit. Our server was name MJ. S she was GREAT always checking to see if we needed anything refilling coffee without asking and just making sure food was ok and she was a GREAT representative of Mad Hatter restaurant! We will comeback because of the great food and the great service from the staff and MJ! The bathroom was clean and well kept. Will recommend to family and friends to come here for the vibes and good food! Was in Weymouth in area and stopped in to have breakfast 9:15am today. Dee D. Was my server very friendly and welcoming with a smile the place was nice looking inside. I got the Hungry Man breakfast plate, pancakes, toast, home fries, Han, sausage, bacon and 2 eggs. I got banana pancakes, light fluffy nit to heavy the bacon was crispy as I ordered, home fries tasted delicious, eggs over easy cooked perfectly, ham grilled tasty and sausage was cooked perfectly. I got raisin toast. Very hardy breakfast and good portion of food. This is a great spot free parking and plenty of seating inside at bar or Resturant area. Will be back again to try other selections on menu.

I was excited about going here for breakfast since they changed their location a couple of years ago. Every time we drove by at their old location there was always a line waiting outside to get in. I don’t understand all the hype.! The food was just average , just blah! My eggs were overcooked, corn beef hash burnt and my toast not toasted, $14.00( way over priced) it states on the menu that the corned beef is homemade I don’t believe that for a second it had to come from a can way too much salt ! My husbands crispy French toast was decent, but came with no sides, $13.00 for 2 slices of bread. My daughter got the steak and eggs she enjoyed her meal, the potatoes seasoned well, steak cooked medium , the eggs were overcooked. I forgot to look at the price. The bill came out to $61.00 for breakfast in this was with no alcohol, juice, and coffee! So there’s plenty of parking out front and in the back, outdoor seating and handicap accessible for parking and dining. I used to hear a great things about this place, but I just didn’t see what the great things were.! so disappointed. I wish I went to their old location instead! We will not be back.! BTW: our server was very nice!
