I’m from the South & have a strange hobby of trying all the highly rated biscuit companies in the Denver Metro. I’ve even worked for a very popular biscuit chain here in Denver. It’s difficult to get a biscuit & also cinnamon recipe just right at a high altitude, & even harder to replicate it in large quantities. Typically, I think writing reviews are a waste of time but wanted to leave a detailed review.
Mr. Biscuits has really nailed it when it comes to serving a true Southern-style, high quality biscuit in comparison to many other restaurants in Denver which led me write this review. They serve house-made jam & kerrygold butter. I know first-hand that these options are much more expensive in comparison to restaurants that source their butter from big food suppliers/manufacturers (sometimes in form of butter packets packed full of soy).
I’ve ordered take-out from Mr. Biscuits through door dash 2x. In fairness, delivery food is always going to be lower quality, less crispy, & have more condensation build up than the real deal, in-person order due to foil/packaging. There were some inconsistencies in quality/taste between the two orders. The first order was rough. Due to outstanding reviews, I wanted to give it another shot & I’m so glad I did.
Plain biscuits: 1st order - 3/5 - biscuits were very salty with so much oil on both top & bottom of the biscuits. And, a little hard/stale. I ordered a plain biscuit & also a biscuit/gravy. 2nd order - 5/5 - buttery, soft, not too flakey, truly perfect.
Biscuits & gravy: 1st order - 1/5 - I can handle a lot of salt & over salt everything. The gravy itself was so incredible salty that I couldn’t finish the meal. If there was less salt in both the biscuits/gravy, I’m sure it would be awesome flavor-wise.
Cinnamon roll: 1st order - 4.5/5 - a bit tough on top. Besides that - excellent flavor & icing. Highly recommend. 2nd order - 5/5
Biscuit Sandwich (sausage): 2nd order - 3.5/5 - biscuit, egg, & cheese were awesome. Sausage was undercooked & pink so I picked it out. If it had been cooked longer, most certainly would be 5/5, & my favorite biscuit sandwich in Denver since it was still very flavorful, spiced & seemed house made which is expensive/impressive.
Kerrygold & Jam: 5/5
Order accuracy (door dash): 5/5
Despite inconsistencies between orders, I still recommend this restaurant for plain biscuits, biscuits w/ egg/cheese, & cinnamon rolls....
Read moreThis place is easily 6 out of 5 stars for the delicious food, friendly service, and overall just an awesome experience! Stopped in with my girlfriend for breakfast this morning to try it out having seen all of the positive reviews on Google and Yelp, and we were certainly not disappointed. We tried the biscuits and gravy, the bacon/egg/cheese biscuit sandwich, and a cinnamon roll. First off, the gravy was amazing, with an ideal amount of pepper, creaminess, and savory sausage. Poured over a perfectly crafted biscuit, it really was to die for and we were both very impressed by the flavors! The sandwich was super tasty as well, and paired well with some of the leftover gravy to really put it over the top. Words simply cannot describe how truly delicious the cinnamon roll was. Hands down the best I have ever had without a single trace of dryness throughout. The brown sugar butter that caramelized on top during baking paired so well with the softness of the roll, and the cream cheese glaze provided with it was divine. All in all, we really cannot say enough good things about our experience and the tasty food we tried here! This is an awesome hole in the wall breakfast joint with a great story behind the beginning. Got to interact with a couple of the owners during our stop in this morning and both had a very welcoming energy to a couple first time patrons. We will happily return given the opportunity while in or around the area, and you...
