Tucked away in a compact shopping plaza in Wheaton—alongside a bakery, a Hispanic restaurant, and a Dollar Tree—Full Kee is a low-key treasure that proudly serves traditional Cantonese Chinese food. It's the kind of spot you might overlook at first glance, but once inside, you’re welcomed by an atmosphere that feels both homey and steeped in culture.
The interior is adorned with replicas of ancient Chinese artifacts, offering a subtle but charming nod to tradition. Seating is entirely family-style, with square or circular tables that foster a communal dining experience. The lighting shifts with the time of day and the ambiance desired by guests—brighter for lunch, dimmer and more intimate for dinner.
We dined a little after 3 p.m., just missing the lunch specials. That worked to our advantage: the restaurant was quiet, and with only a couple of other diners, we practically had the place to ourselves. Service was prompt and polite. We had a busy toddler with us, and the hostess went above and beyond—bringing out an apple juice and a few fortune cookies to keep her entertained while we waited.
As for the food, the menu offered plenty of appealing options. We decided on a few customer favorites, starting with the roast duck. It was flavorful and well-seasoned, though the skin didn’t quite have the crispiness I had hoped for. We also ordered a bowl of traditional wonton soup, which was warm, comforting, and just right. Each entrée came with a side of white rice.
Other standouts included the Kingdom Pork Chop—a house-recommended dish—and sesame chicken, both of which were satisfying in portion and flavor.
Overall, the food was delicious, the service was kind, and the ambiance was welcoming. The 45-minute drive from lower Maryland was more than worth it for this experience. If you're looking for authentic Cantonese cuisine in a no-frills, family-friendly setting, Full Kee in Wheaton is absolutely...
Read moreFor more than ten years, I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant, and every visit continues to remind me why it has remained one of my favorite places to eat. The star of the menu is undoubtedly their roasted duck, which is prepared with a level of mastery that is increasingly rare to find. The skin is perfectly crisp, the meat tender and flavorful, and the aroma alone is enough to make you hungry before the dish even arrives at your table. Over the years, I have tried roasted duck at many other places, but none can compare to the consistency and excellence I experience here.
The popularity of this restaurant is evident the moment you step inside. It is always filled with customers, no matter the time of day. Whether it’s lunchtime or dinner, there is an unmistakable energy created by the bustling atmosphere, the sound of conversations, and the aroma of freshly prepared food that fills the air. Despite the constant crowds, the staff manage to maintain a friendly and efficient service, which enhances the overall dining experience.
Personally, I love to enjoy their roasted duck with egg noodles, a combination that, to me, feels perfect. However, one small curiosity has remained with me: the restaurant does not sell the noodles separately. I have never really understood why, as many customers, myself included, would enjoy the option of ordering the noodles on their own. Still, this minor detail does little to overshadow the incredible quality of their signature duck dish.
After more than a decade of dining here, I can confidently say that this restaurant has earned its loyal following. With its superb roasted duck, lively atmosphere, and enduring consistency, it remains a true culinary treasure that I will continue to return to...
Read moreWow. 5/5 experience and food. I highly recommend this spot for Cantonese dishes and hope they continue to thrive and succeed.
As soon as you sit down the aroma, ambiance, and decorations bring back childhood memories. Sitting there gets you excited for food when hearing the chopping sounds of roasted meat and gazing upon every table's food order.
The staff and management are extremely friendly and welcoming. I was not expecting such wonderful customer service. You can tell management cares and this is shown through the interaction and engagement with customers. I even saw them running out the door to give an item the customer may have forgotten. Staff come by and smile! When you ask for cold water it is COLD. If you have leftovers they kindly pack for the table.
We ordered 6 dishes and everything hit. Roast Duck 1/2 lb - delicious, decadent, and fatty. I recommend pairing this with a side of plain white rice.
Deep Fried Squid w/ Spicy Salt - Perfecttt. The squid was soft yet snappy and the size of the squid was large. The batter was a good consistency and not thick.
Clams w/ Black Pepper Sauce - good flavor and fresh-tasting clams. I just wish it had a little more oomph in flavor but overall solid dish.
Kingdom Pork Chop - Amazing. Please note this dish is on the sweet side but not overly sweet. The pork pieces are huge, meaty, and juicy. The sauce is coated on each piece of pork to perfection.
Beef Brisket Noodle Soup - different but good. It reminded me of wonton mein (the broth and egg noodles) but substituted with pieces of beef and tendon.
Beef Chow Fun - Fire. The wok hei taste and the chewy yet soft noodle still has bite to it. The simplicity of the bean sprouts and beef slices just compliments the...
