They were very accomodating. We went in a week before to see how the seating was because I just got done with having cancer in my mouth and surgery and just finished my last treatment in August. I am still trying to keep a bit of distance from strangers because am still immuno compromised but was told by my Oncologists that I need to start living and just be careful in public. So we asked when was a slower time so we could make a reservation for us and another couple and be at a bigger table. They said 4pm on a Sunday was a slower time. It turns out there was only a handful of tables being used in the entire restaurant at that time and they seated us in a room past the bar that had a booth but it was small so they moved us to a much bigger room in back and we sat at a table all the way in back corner and it had a view of the outside patio which was beautiful but no one was outside because it was cold. There wasn't anyone in the room but us and the table was big enough to seat 8 people so we could spread out. The owner had seated us and asked if we had been there before and we said we haven't but have always wanted to try since they opened. He was telling us recommendations for appetizers and meals and he said I shouldn't have anything raw and fresh because of my immune system. We ended up getting Oysters Rockefeller and Shrimp Saganaki which wasn't like regular Saganaki but it was made with 2 kinds of cheese and sweet peppers and huge Shrimp and olive oil and seasonings and lemon, I had them leave off tomatoes because can't have all the acidity. That would have been plenty but we also ordered meals and I had crab stuffed calamari and it came on a big platter and it had sweet peppers and onions and artichokes and asparagus and cheese and was supposed to be in tomato sauce and chunks of tomatoes and they made it with olive oil and lemon and seasoning with a small cup of balsamic vinegar on side but I didn't use the balsamic vinegar instead. They kept coming by to make sure we had everything and that it was made to our liking. The food was delicious and even though everything is pricey they give nice big portions. I brought home most of the stuffed calamari because we were full from the appetizers. We also had Tiramisu that we shared for dessert. We were there for a little over 2 hours and about 20 minutes before we were done the room started getting filled but they still kept a good distance between tables. When we were walking out the rest of the restaurant was almost completely packed!!! We had a great experience and look forward to going back again in the...
Read moreWell, I'm pretty sure that I will never go here again, and I will definitely not recommend this restaurant.
Everything started off fine as we were walked to our table, but then that's also where everything went wrong.
We were waiting, at least, 5-7 minutes before we were greeted by our server. I'm almost certain that I'm being underestimating the time.
At this time, we immediately ordered an appetizer and a meal for our son because he was very hungry to begin with. We also put in our order for drinks as we were waiting for our friends to arrive. A few minutes later, our friends arrived, and it took about another 5-7 minutes before the server came and took our friends' drink order.
About another 5-7 minutes, our server came back with our original 2 drinks. We then ordered our food (mix of appetizers and meals). Roughly 7-10 minutes later, the server delivered the rest of our drinks.
Then came the wait for our food...
After being there for more than 40 minutes, our first appetizer and son's dinner arrived. Nothing for the next 20 minutes (somewhat understandable since we ordered a little later), then the first started trickling in.
Now, I don't know about you, but I hate when food is served separately for each dish. I would prefer to have all of the appetizers delivered together, and then all of the dinners delivered together.
After 90 minutes of being there, and one of our dishes was still not delivered, I asked if they could take it off of the bill because I didn't want it any longer. The server assured me that the dish was ready and that he just had to go and get it. So then, did the dish just take a long time (it was grilled octopus), or did the server forget my food?
Anyway, I then asked for the check, and this is where insult was added to injury. There was a 10 dollar credit card processing fee. Are you kidding me? My meal was 400 dollars, and you think it's ok to also charge a 10 dollar credit card fee? What in the world?
I'm usually a generous tipper, but after getting that fee + the lousy service, I couldn't bear to even give 20 percent.
To the management/owner(s): Your food is good, and you offer some great options, but it's not so good that customers should sacrifice great service and a surprise credit card fee. Come on...do the right thing and do better. Your customers deserve it on your over...
Read moreWe took a chance and went to the Boston Fish Market last evening for my wife's Birthday. It was the first time in 4 months we have fined out and we didn't know what to expect. We are both I. Our 60's and my wife has some medical problems so we were a bit nervous. But we were very pleasantly surprised. A large outdoor dining area had been set up the many tables spaced well over 6 feet apart. It was a comfortably warm night so it worked out well. The staff were all wearing masks and made certain to keep an appropriate distance from the customers. And the wait staff were all superb. Our waiter was named Julius and he couldn't haven been more gracious, polite, and knowledgeable. He made us comfortable immediately. My wife had a question on how the soft shell crab was prepared and Julius went to the kitchen the get the answer. Julius answered all of our questions and we really enjoyed his friendly personality and sense of humor. The food was sensational. We started with a dozen shucked oysters. They were large, succulent and well presented with a great sauce. Next up we split a bowl of clam chowder. It was the best clam chowder I've ever enjoyed outside of New England. Rich and creamy with a generous amount of clams. Wonderful. For the main course my wife had the soft shell crabs and I selected the wild Alaskan salmon. Both were cooked to perfection and were served with generous sides of wild rice, potatoes, and green beans. All were delicious!!! Afterwards Julius brought my wife a small chocolate cake heaped with vanilla ice cream and fresh strawberries. And a candle- for her Birthday. It was a wonderful evening of fine dining and made for a perfect celebration. Thank you Boston Fish Market and a Special thank you to Julius! We highly recommend the Boston...
