I visited Egg House a week ago with a couple of friends. They sat us right away and while the place wasn't super busy when we arrived, by the time we left, they were packed. My friend mentioned the location used to be the old Uptown Cafe. They made this location very cute with an Instagrammable back wall of exposed red brick and decorations adorned every spare section marking the holidays to come.
I ordered a hot chocolate with the Hungry Man's Breakfast. My companions ordered coffee and the Denver omelet.
The hot chocolate was huge, perfectly whipped with a nice drizzle of chocolate sauce on top. It was hot, but not burn-the-roof-or-your-tongue-hot.
I got the eggs scrambled and dry. They were the fluffiest eggs I've ever had. The bacon was crispy (just how I wanted them) and melt in your mouth. I got them with their house potatoes and instead of buttered toast or two small pancakes, I got them with biscuits and gravy. The whole meal was delicious. Very fresh, eggs fluffy and flavorful. The biscuit and gravy were wonderful too!
My friends got the omelet and shared it. They noticed that it was missing the cheese and let the server know who immediately removed the omelet to remake it with the cheese. The omelet came back within minutes and and was made correctly. The owner, Tony, then came by and brought them this beautiful plate of strawberry french toast. It was ooey gooey and on the house. They had to bring it home, but it looked and smelled yummy.
When we got the bill, we weren't charged for their omelet or the french toast. It was a very nice gesture that they surely didn't need to do and we didn't ask them to remove the omelet. They were happy to have us there and we were happy to be there.
And with all the breakfast places in the northwest suburbs existing and popping up, Egg House is a bright beacon amongst them all. I'd eat there every day if I...
Read moreLet me start by saying the server of our table was very nice. This view is more for the food and manager. We came here a couple of days ago and were really excited to try the place since seeing videos on TikTok about it and all the good reviews. We got the trio French toast that everyone raves about. As my husband was eating there was a bug that came from underneath one of the French toast. At this point he lost his appetite after seeing that. When the manager came to our table we told her and showed her the bug she asked if we wanted it remade and we said no because at that point he had lost his appetite. The manager did state that they make fresh orange juice daily there so sometimes there is fruit flies. That’s great we understand. But to not take it off our bill and make us pay for it when he only had many three bites from the food is insane . We’re in the industry and understand things happen . But why should we pay for something that was taken away after three bites due to a buy coming from underneath the French toast. Very upset because I really wanted to like this place since we live in the area . But that was very disappointing. I don’t mind paying for things we ate but when it’s something beyond my control then I feel like as customer service you guys should’ve...
Read moreDo you know what I like to start my morning with? A cup of coffee with a spot of something left over from the person that used it before me.
I then like to follow it up with an atmosphere of a German Beer Hall because I learned it was a 2 yr old siblings birthday because that sat that close to me.
The food is delicious, if you like your bacon to hang off the side of the plate and slather the cleaning agents of the table while the plate is being placed. Oh and if you like your sausages cooked on the outside and tender raw on the inside you found your spot!
If you also like ordering and getting something else even better!! Ordered 2/2/2 and got a 4/2/3?!?
For all of the above be prepared to pay $15-17 for a 2/2/2 (eggs/bacon/pancakes) because that price is worth it when you get a rolled paper towel for a napkin.
Seriously whoever owns this place stop listening to the “consultant” that sold you on high price, Sysco generic provided food stuff in which your whole profit model is high turnover and stuff as many as you can in. The table we sat at with the plates, various bits (creamer, syrup, etc) was so jammed you couldn’t put...
