KAZAN RESTAURANT — Restaurant in Wheeling Township

Worst service at a restaurant we have ever encountered. (And we are middle-aged so that’s a lot of dining out, and as an aside…..we never leave online reviews, but this experience has left us speechless.) We walked in and waited for the hostess to acknowledge us. One hostess was on her phone. Other hostess did not make eye contact with us for a good 10 minutes. We just stood there at the hostess stand a foot or two away from two hostesses. Tables open. Second hostess was completely absorbed with cleaning menus. I think they hoped we would leave.

Finally the hostess, with no apologies or social graces whatsoever, sat us at a table. Then we proceeded to sit, without service, while a waitress talked to two other tables directly around us. After some time, we realized she was proactively avoiding us. At this point we started to realize they didn’t want us there - no eye contact her body turned away from us on purpose. Finally she comes up to the table and says something very cold and partially indecipherable to me and I asked if we could have another menu and water.

She asked us to wait two minutes. Fine what’s two more minutes. I had already figured out what I wanted to eat and drink waiting for her to take our order. We waited 10. She continued to proactively avoid our table, mind you they were not busy, for now more than 10 minutes.

Finally, we got up and left, having never been served even water. It was evident that this restaurant has no desire to have people of American decent there. We had money, were hungry, and interested in trying a restaurant with new flavors from a different culture. Not important to them. We have no photos to add because we were not served. This restaurant wins worst service ever award. We will never go back and we will have this story to share with anyone who wants to...

Dine in there not very long after they opened, I was so exited about them, cuz I live in the area. We tried beef Plov and Samsa, Borscht and Lagman. And one more Beef Plov to go. Everything tastes okay but Lagman was over seasoned or so salty, I normally like salty food than others but that was way too salty. Plov tastes ok, but looked like it was floated in too much oil, which I can see it on the plate. Ok who knows maybe its their style to cook it. But my stomach felt horrible on the way home, I didn't really think its the food, remember! I had one more Plov to go for my husband, the same thing happened with him. After a while Mom wanted to try Kazan and I told her my expirerende, so she decided not to order Plov, she ordered Lagman and I had medium beef shashlik with rise on the side. Lagman was still way too salty, Beef shashlik was too hard and the beef wouldn't break after a bite. The rise on the side was so dry maybe overcooked or it was dried after cooked, but only top part of the rise was dry so obviously it wasn't fresh rise. Then I ordered Napoleon and Honey Cake. Napoleon was fine Honey Cake has no taste at all. I love the food of their tradition and style. But Kazan was way too lower than I expected and disappointing. I would suggest to change the chef and i think its better when servers give an eye on what they are serving. So maybe you can suggest to plate fresher rice. I am so sorry. But its the truth. It is serious problem exactly same food gave stomach problem right after eating for two people at the same time!!! Better not call it Restaurant. Look at the oil guys. OMG, not recommended!!! No No No again No I tried twice fave it a chance, waited to give bad feedback, however it was absolutely bad bad bad!!!! Never going...

I came here for my friend’s birthday.. The piña colada has no pineapple juice, it was too strong, and it was not blended.. I tried to give it back, but the server just stare at me like he was afraid to take it back and so he offered orange juice or apple juice to fix it because they don’t have pineapple juice, My friends said just do orange juice and it came back bad tasting, Honestly, the piña colada didn’t taste anything like a piña colada even before they changed it to orange juice.. I ordered a lamb kebab as I thought by going from the photos on the menu and they have a completely different looking dish , They don’t tell you that ahead of time I would not have ordered that.. My aunt’s dish came not looking like the picture with lots of sauce on top ! If she knew it was coming differently, she would not have ordered that dish as well! The lamb was NOT medium, it came out well done! THE SERVER NEVER CAME TO THE TABLE OR CHECK ON US, THE RESTAURANT ONLY HAS LIKE TWO EMPLOYEES, IT WAS SLOW ON A FRIDAY NIGHT! We asked for boxes, and my friend asked for dessert, They should be asking if we want dessert , The service said they only have honey cake, They did not add a birthday candle, even though my friend told him It’s our friends’s birthday acknowledgment of her birthday as well..
