Oberweis Ice Cream and Dairy Store — Restaurant in Wheeling Township

This location is really starting to go down hill. I went there a few days ago and I had nothing but issues I had ordered mint chocolate chip in a regular waffle cone, and my husband ordered a peanut butter, Reesie’s in a bowl and they brought my husband’s order in a waffle bowl not a regular bowl and they brought me regular chocolate chip, not mint chocolate chip. So they said they would be right back to us with the correct order and then they came back saying that they were out of mint chocolate chip so I asked for a refund. Since the only thing I like to eat, there is mint chocolate chip then they decided to scoop me mint chocolate chip out of one of their take-home containers that you can buy, so I was very happy to hear that they did that but then after they scooped it and brought it to me, the waffle cone was completely stale, and the manager was lying to me, saying that they were just a lighter baked, but they were not a lighter baked. The waffle cone was extremely stale Because of the issues that I’ve had they gave us two coupons that would get us two free desserts on them off the menu and I’ve tried to go back twice to use those coupons now and they are still out of mint chocolate chip when the night manager told me yesterday that they were going to get the shipment of mint chocolate chip in yesterday Because I’ve had so many issues with this I asked them if the one on us card could be used to take home a court size ice cream and they said that it Has to be a menu item which I was not pleased to hear with all these issues that I’ve had with oberweis I don’t know if I will ever go back here, I will go back here if they get new management and something is done to make improvement so that the store stops having...

The service here my last few times has been absolutely awful! For years we’ve going here. When we purchased packaged items, whoever took our order would allow us to also order ice cream. But Jonathan told us after waiting some time in line for our milk etc. that we had to wait again in another line for our milkshake! That was last time. Today I ordered and paid for a bottle of half & half online. I went to pick it up but before that I waited in the ice cream line and ordered my milkshake. I mentioned to Jonathan that I placed the online order and could he please grab that when my ice cream came out. He said he would and I waited. Another guy brought me my ice cream and I asked about my order. He looked confused and started walking around looking for it. He didn’t seem to know where it was. He came back several minutes later, and explained to me that they were out of stock on half-and-half! Now why the HELL didn’t Jonathan tell me that when I got there? And why the HELL did the system that took my online order even allow me to place it in the first place. I wouldn’t have even gone there at all had I known they were out of stock! When I asked about it, all I got was “we have no control over the online ordering.” They didn’t even apologize! I will not be going back. It is probably a blessing and a curse to live so close to Oberweis. My husband and I come here often as an after dinner pick me up. Fair warning, during the summer after dinner hours, it can be packed (cuz great minds think alike!) They are well staffed and the lines go by really quickly. Orders are pretty quick, especially if all you are getting is an ice cream in a cup.

Currently, my favorite flavor is Espresso Chocolate Chip. Even though I can buy the frozen quart ice cream, the taste isn't the same at home than at the store. I've tried the kids and the small sizes (they use the same cup), but the small size is perfect for one person. I've gotten the kids size a few times so that I can try multiple flavors (indecisive much?)

For the first time today, I tried the strawberry malt shake and I have to say it is my new favorite item. It comes with a pirouette and whipped cream. Can't wait to try the other flavors, but will have to pace myself if I want to lose this baby weight!

You can also get their milk here and if you return their glass bottles, you get a $2 credit. We are no long drinking non-lactaid milk, but prior we were 100% oberweis milk and yogurt.
