07/30/2025: I would not recommend. Yesterday was my son’s 4th birthday. My dad picked him up early from school and stopped by for an ice cream treat on the way home. When they arrived, my dad told him, “You can pick any ice cream you want—it’s your birthday!” The girl behind the counter said, “If it’s his birthday, he gets a free ice cream cone.” Then she asked for his ID.
What 4-year-old has an ID? Assuming she was joking, my dad went ahead and let him pick out a cone like they had planned. When she rang up the “free” birthday cone, my dad said, “I thought you said his was free.” She replied, “Well, he doesn’t have an ID.” That response left him stunned.
Again, we had no idea there was a birthday promotion—it was the young lady behind the counter who brought it up. He was planning to pay for the cone either way. The whole interaction was strange and disappointing. Funny enough, we had ordered a birthday cake from them for his birthday party this Saturday. We’ll be canceling that.
@DairyQueen – it’s not about the few dollars for the cone. It’s about customer service. Also, since when does the BMV hand out IDs to preschoolers- lol??!?!
**Update 07/31/2025 – I called to cancel the cake and the girl who answered (likely the same one who asked for a 4-year-old’s ID) said, “Okay, it’s cancelled, anything else?” She didn’t ask why, didn’t try to save the sale, and didn’t offer to adjust the date or design. The continued lack of customer service is honestly...
Read moreThe DQ in Greenwood might be less updated but it is the better of the two by far. I've been to both quite a few times and never had a bad experience at the Greenwood location. I've been shorted on food here consistently. Very small portions on things like fries/onion rings compared to the other DQs in the area. I got a small fry that literally had 12 fries in it. Whenever we've ordered kids meals from here they never give you the treat part of the meal that is included. I thought it was a fluke the 1st couple times but now I realize they just don't give you part of the meal you're paying for... I don't know if its management or...
Read moreThe young lady at the counter taking orders was obviously frustrated and mad, which I can completely understand in today's restaurant atmosphere. However, it was to the point that she was rude as could be to the customers and made them feel as if they were a bother to her. I get having a bad day, but to take it out on people that didn't do anything wrong to you is not a good way to earn repeat customers. Other than that, the food was good, the other employees were friendly, and everyone seemed to be working together to get through a...
