Carl's used to be soooo good! Remember super models swooning over large juicy burgers dripping with saucy, tangy goodness all over the models scantily clad...er...a... goodness? Carl's burgers, salads, fries, onion rings, chicken sands', everything.... was so much better than today. Turkey burgers (innovative for the time) covered in sweet/salty teriyaki and thickly sliced pineapple rings... were the best. A $6 burgers, made like a restaurant burger but for $3. Great advertising and great food made a great business model with products everyone wanted to have, eat and talk about.
What happened?!? The Karcher's, the Sanders (see my review of the Whittier KFC), these keepers of quality - maybe, because there name were on the product, ...have died or sold to big biz with the bean counters in charge if the menu. What I got today had nothing to do with Good Food. It was soooo freakin' mediocre it could easily come from Burger King. I asked what came on the burger? A: Cheese, tomato, onion, pickles, sauce and 2 patties. What I got was 2 small seedless buns, 2 charred flat over cooked small meat circles glued by a burnt slice of cheese and oops, I guess they forgot the rest... Yes, I did order another double cheese burger plain as part of the whole order, but that doesn't mean every other burger should be plain! Remember the chicken salads with fresh crisp lettuces, red onions, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and croutons... with thick slices of grilled white meat chicken? Well, how about 4 pieces of lettuces 2 - 1/8 inch thick tiny rings of onion and a plastic bag of croutons and a flatten grilled yellow patty, that's possibly chicken... hard to say what part of the chicken. That's it! REALLY!?! My wife, when we got home, actually put some spring greens, tomatoes and other veggies to give it some nutritional value. Btw, dried out, luke warm fries are never ok, people. My advice, support your local eatery and forget these big box chains that have forgotten the reason the restaurant was started, with pride, in the...
Read moreWhitwood Center location in Whittier is a nice one. I consistently order the same thing every time I come in and the orders have always remained consistent. The speed of service is adequate but there is the additional consideration that they are actually cooking your food. For the most part, the staff is friendly and welcoming. I deducted one star because of an employee named Robert. His demeanor is that st of someone who doesn't fully enjoy his job. In my observation, he had a very short attention span, as he did not completely prepare my order. Either he forgot or the kitchen was behind (only 2 people in the lobby) but he did not take ownership of the situation. Instead, the young lady working the drive-thru window had to being me my food, apologize, and satiate me with a free cheesecake. I never complained and I feel the real reason this isn't a three star review is because of her. She went above and beyond and she owned his lack of engagement to completely see service through. Even watching him disappear while I ate and a line formed, he was nowhere to be found (outside sweeping). Again the young lady saved the day and apologized. In closing, I believe Robert may have to reassess his involvement with Carl's Jr. He doesn't have an engaging personality and out of the handful of times I have come here this was the one time I thought about never coming here again. His team saved him in this t respect, but if I ever see him again, I'll ask to deal with someone...
Read moreI'd like to start off and state that I used to work at this establishment and the time I have worked there I have never seen this level of unprofessionalism and just plain incompetence. I order a meal at this establishment at 12:00 am to 12:30 am and am greeted to a wrong order. I return to this establishment calm and level-headed ready to fix the problem but I am greeted with rudeness, spite, and awful service. First I am overcharged for my first order and try to explain that two Double Western Cheeseburgers, one Large Fry ,One large Drink and something I didn't order a spicy chicken samdwhich doesn't equate to 20+ she makes the situation more frustrating and confusing. She accuses me of her owing me money, and charges me more money for the order I originally wanted. This employee was very rude, incompetent and made me want to never come back to a establishment I liked. I am very ashamed to such awful service provided at a establishment that I worked at. I'm not even an employee there anymore and I acted more professional than the employee. I do not recommend anyone eat here during the...
