Updated 2-9-2023 I don’t know if they are under new management but the service has gone way down hill. The quality of the food has dropped recently and they charge a fee for everything. Our last visit we had to ask for drink refills and more chips. We ordered double meat fajitas which usually comes with extra tortillas and cheese etc than the normal size. Well we got charged $1 for more cheese when we asked for it and $1 for the tortillas we asked for. Keep in mind we were asking for portions we usually get without asking. When we asked for the tortillas we were out and the waitress said she would get them. Then she wiped down a table, took someone else’s order, walked around a bit. I had to flag her down and ask for them again. Then she went to the kitchen, brought out a drink to someone else then went to get them as I tried to flag her down again. When we went to pay they didn’t have an itemized bill, they just had a machine to take the card. I had to ask for the bill and I saw the extra fees. They said it was a new system but I should expect to be charged for extras. I asked about the guacamole I didn’t want and said where is my $1 off for that. TLDR: the service is rude and the food quality has gone down. It’s a shame because this was a favorite place of ours. Updated 11-10-2022: I’ve been going here for years. Normally great food and service. Today the situation warranted an updated review. My wife and I ordered the double fajitas for $25. Single is $18. We were going to split them like we usually do. We also added shrimp for an up charge we expected obviously. We asked for 3 more tortillas shells as we ran out. The waitress brought us 3 rolls of 3 for 9 total. We told her we wanted only 3 more not 9 but she said to keep them. The service was awesome too. We get the bill. We are charged for double fajita’s, extra beef, extra chicken, extra cheese and extra tortillas. We ask about it and the waitress gets the manager. They removed the extra beef and chicken but kept all the other charges. The manager made us feel like we were scamming them and tried to explain we got what we were billed for. We never asked for more than what comes with the double. I felt the manager didn’t care and we were being billed extra because we were sharing a meal. A charge that should have been explained at the time of order.

I grew up in Texas and was trying to find a good Mexican place in Wichita. I had the Tacos Pescado plate. Pros: -The tacos were fantastic. The fish was nicely cooked and the spicy yogurt sauce is a perfect complement to the fish making the tacos taste rich and garlicky almost like a garlic butter sauce that comes with fajitas at other places. -The rice was also really good. It was flavorful and garlicky and fluffy. -The refried beans were thicker than at some places where they can get too soupy for me. The taste was perfectly normal though, as expected. Cons: -The chips sort of had an oily corn flavor I didn’t really appreciate. -The salsa wasn’t great. It was spicier than I expected for somewhere in Kansas, but there weren’t many of the good spices that make a great salsa. I normally add salt to bring out the flavor of a mediocre salsa (which I did), but this time it actually didn’t improve the flavor at all. It sort of brought out a different spice I relate more to Italian like oregano or something I couldn’t quite pinpoint. Considering the other food had a nice level of garlic going on, I’m surprised that didn’t seem to be part of the salsa. Normally I rank Mexican places almost entirely on salsa, which this one didn’t live up to the hype on, but the tacos and rice were so fantastic as to really make up for it.

Been coming to Margaritas for a long time. Just a few notes below food, cocktails, service and atmosphere. The salsa and chips (extra charge) along with the Margita Dip was really good...with a little kick. Chips were fresh and the sour cream dip very good. The Cadillac Margarita served with a side shot of Grand Marnier knocked my socks off but it was served in a plain old tall glass. When you pay $12 Margarita it should be served in a fancy margarita glass...this is a Mexican restiurant right..."make me feel special please". I tried something new from the menu this time...Margaritas Rellenos. Loved the taste of the poblano peppers stuffed with chicken and pepper jack cheese smothered in the famous Margaritas sour cream sauce. Just FYI on service...if management from Margaritas sees this review. When you have customers come in and the hostess seats them she should probably tell a waiter they have customers and what table. We waited over 5-8 minutes before finally getting waited on. We were the only customers in the restaurant. The restaurant is clean but could use some stylish Mexico decor in the dining areas. I'll still go back...its good.

It took thirty minutes to get water and over AN HOUR for the waitress to take our order. We arrived at 8:15, with a preschooler in tow, knowing that the place is 21+ at 9:30, thinking that an hour and fifteen minutes would be a sufficient amount of time to eat and wrap things up. Around 10:00, when we were mid meal, (the beans, rice, and soft tortilla ends were crispy from sitting under a heat lamp for so long), the waitress told us, "Just so you know, I'm normally supposed to kick children out at 9:30". The mother of the child said, "I understand that but we have been here since 8:15". The waitress replied, "Oh...well, we will let you finish eating. We aren't going to make you leave". When the mother spoke to a manager, the manager echoed the same sentiment, saying that she would allow us to finish our meal. After the mother told the manager that it took the waitress an hour to take our order, the manager repeated that she would allow us to finish eating, as though we rolled up 5 minutes before nightclub time and she was doing us a favor by allowing us to stay. She did track the mother down later and give her a gift certificate for a future visit. I don't know what the amount was for. The waitress was courteous to us for the two hours we were there. We did not run out of chips or salsa or water. The guys would have ordered more alcohol, had they received their beverages in shorter intervals. Aside from the charred ends of tortilla and dried out beans and rice, my sour cream enchiladas were tasty. No one apologized but they were not rude, either. It was a very bizarre and frustrating encounter, overall. I felt like I was stuck in some kind of weird time-warp where we were going to be having dinner forever. At one point, the youngster said that she wanted to leave and I jokingly said, "We can't leave. We live here now!". The house band was enjoyable. I don't think I've ever left a restaurant feeling so confused about my experience. I won't be going back, not because I hate the place...just because it was such an awkward event. I'm not interested in having that experience more than once. Here are my feelings about my odd dinner in interpretive dance-like, emoji form:...

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! we were told when first coming in there would be a 35-40 minute wait. Was thankful for the warning and decided to stay was seated right away but was then told they were out of chips. What kind of Mexican restaurant is out of chips at 6pm on a Friday?? So we ordered some queso and asked for for tortillas to eat with it. About 45 minutes into having the"appetizer" because there wasn't chips and salsa the server asked if we were ready for our check. I said she may want to wait until after we got our meal that was ordered. She said oh sorry, it had been so long I forgot you were still waiting. Food finally came but was weird. The jalapeño poppers were just deep fried jalapeños with cream cheese and the salsa that came with it was nothing I've ever seen before. Ground up jalapeños with maybe tomatillos and sugar? It was really sweet with a kick. The burrito was covered in this white "sour cream" sauce. Not sure if it was bad but it really wasn't very tasty. The chicken was super dry and unseasoned. I don't think the chef or cook knew what cumin was because none of their food tasted like Mexican food. The refried beans were tasty, which is crazy because I don't even like beans! I had to ask for our check, and she reads of the total. I asked if I could see the charges so she let's me look at her handheld POS and I see we were charged for the queso, whatever, it is what it is, but then I see where we were also charged for the flour tortillas that we got because there were no chips. What were we supposed to do? Eat the cheese with our fingers?? This place had no idea what they were doing. I was so disappointed as it was nothing like the Margaritas that we have in KC. Oh and grabbed a "mint" on the way out and surprise! Wasn't a mint, the candy tasted salty with a hint of lime. I'm thinking they're supposed to be margarita flavored? So so so disappointing. To top it all of we paid 58.00 for 2 people eating dinner, not much of it was eaten, and I had a water. None of that balance...
