TLDR: 7.5/10, decent food and atmosphere, still needs some work. Good value for money. Friendly service. Next time will try the inventive burgers and fries! Tried for the first time this past Thursday. We got our food to go: the 2 meat Hawaiian plate with Huli Huli chicken and beef bulgogi, sides were Mac salad and kimchi slaw, upgraded to garlic fried rice. Teriyaki chicken value meal. 6 egg rolls. And a side of pickled radish. Notes: The Huli Huli chicken was really good, very flavorful marinade and tender. Love the grilled taste. The beef bulgogi was interesting, a bit too salty and a flavor I couldn’t place, could’ve used more smoky sweetness and I personally prefer smaller pieces. The long strips are hard to eat if they’re not shaved thin. Overall it was still decent though! The Mac salad had a really good peppery flavor, but man was it DESPERATE for more sauce. It was super dry. Y’all gotta get the extra heavy mayo and keep it creamy. Don’t put it on the pasta if the pasta is still hot, it’ll turn it to oil! Kimchi slaw, honestly this was the just didn’t taste like anything besides plain cabbage. I couldn’t tell if they were going for a sweet spicy tangy coleslaw or a spicy creamy coleslaw. Either would be good. Needs work. Teriyaki chicken value meal: an excellent deal for your money! A lot of food, but the teriyaki didn’t have nearly has much flavor as the Huli Huli. Marinade and grill both! We also did not receive the drink it was supposed to come with. Egg rolls: fantastic!! We LOVED these! Really good flavor and texture and the dip wasn’t overly sweet. Perfection! Pickled radish, we instead received pickled ginger. I was really sad because I LOVE pickled radish, can’t stand the ginger though. Only $2 so wasn’t worth driving back for. Last note is on atmosphere, when I went in there were dirty tables (nothing horrible) that needed cleaned and a bunch of chairs piled up against one of the tables. Extra merch still in boxes sitting around, looked like the storage room was in the customer dining area and just didn’t look professional.

I will be trying this place again dispute not liking my meal and that is solely because I order one thing and thought I was getting something totally different. My kids got burger meals and they enjoyed them the portion size were much better then expected for kids meals. My husband got the Shaka and musubi, which he said were great. The facility could use some tending too. This was just from my point of view. The tables were too close together. There were empty dispenser sitting out an ice cream machine that didn’t appear to be working and had two dead plants behind it. There was ketchup splattered all over the wall up to the ceiling. There was a sign that said order here, but you don’t order there. You could see all the supplies including the syrup bottles that had syrup all over the outside. The staff was busy and constantly running around so taking care of customers so hats off the them because there was people in and out the whole time! This places has a ton of potential and I think with some clean up it could always be a 5 star place. Not being a hater just being honest. Sometimes when you see the something every day you get used to it and never think twice about it. Side note I also loved the cups they use!

Our first (but not last!) time at Sharky's was excellent. The food had great flavor (even the rice) and was hot and fresh. We didn't care for the kimchi coleslaw, but that was just a personal preference. I got the Huli Huli Chicken, which was AMAZING. It's a fun atmosphere, and everything was very clean. I had read some of the other reviews that complained about ketchup messes, storage issues, etc, but the only thing I saw was the front door needed cleaned. Everything else was spotless. I did find it a little difficult to take in all of the different menus (including drinks and desserts), so I feel like consolidating into one large menu may be beneficial. I saw the poke bowl options on a different wall after I had ordered, so I plan to go back and try one of those soon. Very good place for anyone (like me) tired of the same old food options. I would love to see an expanded Sharky's that had the room to lean into the island vibes even more.

The teriyaki steak was worth a trip back someday. If ypu are thinking of going here, give THAT a try.

Truth is, the cabbage slaw [with miso/soysauce dressing?] Was not fresh [rubbery even], nor was it something any of the 3 of us took a second bite of. Just yuck. It almost made me lose my appetite. Dont order anything with the slaw unless you just wanna check if you have the same experience. Also, Katsu sauce in my 60 years [including 4 years in S Cal and in 0.5 in Japan.. ] has NEVER before had ANY spicy heat to it. So i ordered it thinking it was a safe choice. [I dont mind spicy heat in my mouth, i just have to endure hours of belly cramps after i eat it. So i AVOID ALL spicy food. ] I really WANT TO BE WARNED if there is heat in my [katsu sauce]. Imperfect as our dinner seemed, We didnt cross this place off our list. It seemed fun.The people are very nice and seem to try hard. It felt like a family biz was trying a franchise out and jyst learning their way. I wish them good luck. But its another place where the tip is asked for by the pay-robot.. before you GET ANY service. Stop that. Puhleeze just stop that. A concept we will never approve of. Yes, we will keep cash ones for the tip jar AFTER we eat. We DID tip for the servers who were smiling and clearly trying [struggling to find who ordered what - every time it came out]. So while we didnt cross this place off our list, we dont have plans for when we will return, nor will we be telling friends and family about the fun looking tropical island motif, which imo was a bit stretched. Yet clearly enjoyed by other patrons wearing the tshirt, etc. I reiterate ... The teriyaki steak deserves a second mention. Everybody loved it. Chicken katsu was spicy, and the salmon bowl, with a generous dollop of seaweed salad [yay], was good, but the whole dish, nothing special. And yeah, just scrape the slaw off. To the owners...yes slaw is super cheap, but if you want happy and return customers, please dont serve us old slaw with awful dressing. This isnt helping your biz, nor does it engender any nice memories of "island life". Nor any hurried feelings of returning. It might have been good for ten minutes when fresh. Maybe. Id never buy the dressing... unless i was buying it to dramatically drop it in the trash.

Overall.. a maybe nice teriyaki place that LOOKS fun. But tiny inside. Dinky metal chairs. Merchandized to the hilt... [yawn].

Flush the...

Im a delivery driver. Today was a bad experience. I go in for an order and was told it would be 5 minutes to be ready. No problem. So I wait. In 6 minutes they mark the order as ready for pick up on their end. I get up from my seat and approach the counter. I dont get help for an additional 7 mintues. When I finally got help i said my order has been marked as ready. The lady says it's right here as she is still preparing the order becuase it's not ready. But them marking it as ready hurts us drivers as it says we are taking longer than expected to pick up an order. And then we lose on our time to have it delivered by and it affects us. This could lead to a possible contract violation and prevent me from putting food on the table for my family. This isn't the first time this store marks their deliveries as ready when they are not. They are trying to cover themselves at the cost of getting us drivers in trouble.

5/15/2025

I went in for another door dash order because the offer was really good but had the same experience. Waited 8 mintues and then order was marked as ready. I went inside and order was not even close to being finish. I checked my door dash app and said pick up by 5:41 which was the exact time someone marked the order as ready. I waited another 6 mintues and customer questioned me on why I was at the store still if the order was marked as ready. I had to explain to him how the store has done this to me in the past. Ended up waiting 10 mintues after order was marked ready so an total of 18 mintues. Owner said they wouldn't purposely do this, but if sure seems like they are doing so to not get charged by door dash for going over their time. This will be the last order I ever take from this facility and hope other delivery drivers...
