We visited this bar to celebrate my husband's third successful chemotherapy treatment. After a harrowing three months, during which he nearly lost his life to cancer and spent two months at St. Francis, this marked the first time in weeks that he's been stable for two consecutive weeks. We stopped by for drinks after dinner, and the hostess was nice and welcoming. Our server was friendly as well, and although he had to check with the bartender on a few details, we appreciated his effort to answer our questions about the drink menu. The drinks were enjoyable, and while we requested a specific glass for the Grand Marnier, the server explained they didn't have it available, apologized, and mentioned that the bar was newly opened.
However, the experience took a sharp turn toward the end of our visit. As we were finishing our drinks after the "last call" announcement, a staff member named John, with a long curly bang, abruptly told us we needed to leave. His tone was rude and dismissive, which we found uncalled for, especially considering we were already closing our tab. When we mentioned his behavior could have been more courteous, he became hostile, accusing us of being disrespectful to his bartender—who, notably, was standing behind him and gesturing an apology to us.
This kind of unprofessional and disrespectful treatment from a staff member is completely unacceptable. It's unfortunate, because up until that point, we had a pleasant experience. As a result, we will not be returning to this bar. I was also informed that the same owner runs Mort’s Cigar Bar downtown, a place we used to frequent. Given this experience, I will be reconsidering our patronage there as well, despite the generally positive service we’ve had in the past.
This incident has left a sour impression, and I cannot support a business that employs such a...
Read moreA lot of hype leading up to our evening out at Sheets Creek— here is my honest review.
While my friends and I were excited to try their extensive drink and simple food menu — we were left pretty underwhelmed and a bit disappointed.
Menu Pricing is overall decent. Plenty of options to choose from. Food however was super basic, lacked flavor and was nothing I would write home about. I tried the Pesto Pasta which included the driest, most flavorless chicken I have ever had. The artichokes in it were undercooked and hard to chew. Two other girls ordered the same dish, and portions and presentation varied. Not a $19 meal imo.
Like I said the drink menu was extensive — I tried the Dirty Shirley, The Rosebud and The Paddle (espresso martini). The Dirty Shirley was the best of the 3. Presentation of the DS was great. The Rosebud was Tequila Heavy which some may like but lacked a Grapefruit flavor as described. The Espresso Martini was just okay. It was very strong, and although uses Ilprimo Cold brew, it lacked the Ilprimo flavor. We couldn’t quite pinpoint what was off. There are way better Espresso Martinis up the road.
Service started out okay, but dwindled throughout the night as orders came out incorrect. We had to track down our server for our tickets. The restaurant was loud, and it was hard to hear even the person closest to you.
Probably won’t be back, and won’t recommend to anyone. There is a lot of work that needs to be done in order for this restaurant to be successful. It needs quite a bit of flavor, some sound proofing and some...
Read moreThe good: The patio is fantastic! The band was great, but a little too loud to have a conversation with the people I was with. The ambiance is impeccable and the drinks were excellent. The bad: I was very disappointed in the food though. Nothing was seasoned at all and it all was pretty bland. My friend and I both got something off the specials menu and we were both disappointed. (One more good: She said the crab cake ball things were great, but I don't like shellfish so I didn't try them.) I got the salmon fish and chips and it tasted like unseasoned salmon with an oily crunchy coating that tasted like absolutely nothing. I even asked for ketchup and lemon to help it out and it wasn't enough. I paid extra for the brussel sprouts that were steamed? Boiled? With slivered onions and pepper. Not sure why garlic and salt aren't staples, but I don't think anything I had included either of those ingredients. When the waitress came by to ask if I wanted a box and I declined she said something about it looking good and I told her that it was pretty bland, she said she would tell her manager. When the manager did come around and we told her our concerns with the food she discussed it a bit with us and used the word slay a lot and seemed pretty receptive to the feedback but didn't even comp anything on the check for 75% of the food going back to the kitchen uneaten. I would have been happy with even a slight adjustment to acknowledge the complaint. I'll go back for drinks on the patio, but I wouldn't...
