Went with the family for an early dinner. There was no waiting for inside or outside. We sat inside. The atmosphere was a typical florida sports bar feel. Light wood tones with green trim. There are lots of TVs for watching games. Service was good. Waitress was attentive and had great interaction with the kids. The food was actually better than expected. With a crowd or many people in the place, we were not expecting the food to be great. We started with the Gator Taters. They were amazing! Highly recommend. It's the picture that looks like a bowl full of melted shredded cheese. Yum. One kiddo ordered the tacos nachos (appetizer), which were the mini tacos with chorizo queso on top. She didn't eat many of them, but she never eats. I tried them, and after the 5th one, I had to stop eating. The other kiddo got the kids mini cheeseburgers. It was 2 cheeseburger sliders with tator tots. She ate most of them, so I'd say they must have been good. Another meal was the Buffalo Chicken Wrap with Onion Pedals. It was a good wrap, but Onion Pedals were too thick of onions for any of our flavors. And they seemed to be a bit undercooked. The onion still had a little crunch. Lastly, popcorn shrimp and tator tots. They were delicious fried popcorn shrimp, and the tator tots were crispy. All in all, it's a great spot to go when you don't know where to go. They have a large variety of food options, and everything seems to be delicious. We are going back again to try out more options and catch a game. Decent drink specials, too.

We arrived around 5:30 on 3/1/22 and were greeted by the manager who told us is would be a 30 minute wait because there were only 2 servers working. Our gut said go somewhere else...we should have trusted our gut. He put us at a booth after about 15 minutes saying that our server would be with us when she can, but he'll get drinks for us while we wait. As soon as he left to get the drinks a server showed up to take our order...that was the last we saw of her. Cigarette smoke from outside seating was drifting in through the windows... not very appetizing. About 5 minutes before our food was brought to us by a runner, we were wondering if they lost our ticket. We got the Gator Nachos (as an entree) and Gator Gumbo. The Nachos were average and the gumbo wasn’t very hot…temperature wise. But, OMG, it was so spicy hot! So hot that I couldn’t taste any other flavors. I like spicy foods, but this was too spicy…and no drink refills! The gumbo was also too thick. After waiting for too long, we flagged down the manager to get our check. I get that they are understaffed, but there really weren't many tables to tend to since people weren't being seated until they could be served. Maybe one day when they have enough wait staff, we’ll come back, but will never get the gumbo again.

My friend brought me here a few days ago saying she'd had some good food and service the few times she'd gone. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. To start off though, I think that normally this place must be wonderful, especially if you like sports, and the gator tail was great! But I have sensory sensitivities and dislike loud noises so we sat outside, which was lots quieter. It was Saturday night and very busy. We ended up waiting for a very long time before getting service. I believe we stayed an extra hour more than we should have because of it. 15-20 minutes would go by between chances to interact with servers. Some of our food ended up burned or overcooked, too. Luckily the weather was wonderful and the sunset was gorgeous. I think I will give this place another try when it is less busy.

Tonight on Halloween night at about 9:30 pm my family and I decided to get a bite to eat after trick or treating, we came to Gators where we’ve been times before. We had an amazing evening up until our order was taken. Shortly after we encountered a situation that was just disgusting. My 2 year old daughter was fussy, and was crying. We had given her everything we could think of to calm her but she was cranky and a bit hungry. We never thought that an upset baby would be so upsetting to another person. We know most are retired.. but never knew some lacked common decency. A lady came from the bar, leaned over the ledge above the booths in front of us and repeatedly YELLED at us to get her out of there; at first I thought it was a joke but after the 3rd time she yelled it I knew it wasn’t. I have worked in the restaurant industry since I was 16, and was even a general manager at a location near by and I never once have seen such an insensitive human being like herself. I told her my daughter is Autistic and she continued to tell us to leave and that we needed to get her out of there. Her yelling in turn upset my daughter more as now she sees me telling her to mind her own business, that my daughter is disabled and assuring that once she sees her french fries she will be happy. It didn’t end there though, the women kept yelling at us, and an awesome employee did her best at defending us (I wish I knew her name, but Gators dockside should feel lucky to know they have an employee that stands for what’s right) she did let me know it was one of their “regulars” that the night prior she was also very nasty with her too. Then the manager comes over, with an apology that seemed far from sincere, gave us a discount; as they are trained to do when things go wrong.. (nothing special we still paid more than $120) and I let him know I’m so sorry she’s just hungry and she’s autistic. He then proceeds to tell me that “IF YOUR DAUGHTER IS AUTISTIC THEN GATORS DOCKSIDE PROBABLY ISNT THE PLACE SHE SHOULD BE”. I have never dealt with someone so close-minded in my life.. am I missing something? Is discrimination against a disabled child a thing at gators dockside? & why would anyone ever think that this behavior is okay? I know we live near the villages but the entitlement for some is ridiculous.. We as her parents already feel under pressure enough but she is usually well behaved.. we just wanted a quick bite to eat.. this left a sour taste in my mouth. Disappointment is an understatement. If I were corporate I would feel ashamed and embarrassed of how the manager...
