Taqueria el Tapatio — Restaurant in Willis

I highly suggest this restaurant because the food AND the service is amazing!

For our first trip to a Mexican restaurant in the area we chose Taqueria el Tapatio because it always seemed to be a place that the locals visited during the afternoon and evenings without being overly busy.

The server was extremely polite and helpful and offered suggestions of what we may want to try. We placed an order for take out and was told that it would take approximately 15-20 mins and we decided to come back. Upon our return the server immediately went to the back and returned with our entrees. Explaining that she waited for us to add the cheese to the Nachos Fajitas to ensure the chips were crispy.

Our ordered was exactly as we had requested, included eating utensils and chips with salsa and was wonderful!

Not their best efforts. We went in to eat on Saturday, and there were a few people, but nowhere near busy. I waitress came and got our drink orders, brought them back and disappeared. We ordered 2 tacos and an omelette with tomatoes. 30 minutes later, our food shows up, but wrong. The waitress took the plate, no apologies, no let me fix, nothing. She brought the plate back with tomatoes stuffed in one side of the omelette, put the plate on the table and didn’t say a word. Needless to say, we packed up and left. The meal was $20. We paid and left without even eating. Just a bad experience. I get people have bad days, but the whole staff was underwhelming. The food could have been awful, but when you expect me to tip for service, I’ll leave one when the service is better. Not in a huge...

I've been here before, but this time was a little different...I simply wanted some menudo and ordered it...a young man that was a server said it was fresh, so I was a bit excited because I really like this dish... But after about ten or fifteen minutes and they finally brought it to me, (there was one other person there at around 9 pm) I tipped with the card and gave the guy four dollars because it's all I had.... Either way, when I got home and tasted it, it was watered down so bad.... I'm hungry, I worked a 13 hour day and wanted menudo, I don't think I'll go back, I'm very pissed about it...12,13 bucks for a bowl and it's watered down?!
