We get in there every so often. It’s nice to go to a mom and Pop place instead of a big chain restaurant. I’m not saying it was good or bad, but I’m bringing it to someone’s attention because I don’t think it was right. We’re sitting in the dining room looking through a big window watching two men make pizzas. They’re dressed in their aprons and baseball caps and look like they know what they’re doing. Then comes this man with gray hair, short beard and glasses and he starts to make pizzas. Do you think he would bother to put on headwear? Nooooooo! He stood there making about four or five pizzas and it didn’t dawn on him that there may be a regulation requiring some kind of headwear for people who prepare food. I don’t know who this guy was, but I’ve seen him around a lot and I think he’s an owner or a manager of the restaurant
My wife had the spaghetti and meatball and I had the blackened chicken pasta in creamy Alfredo sauce for lunch. We each had a bowl of minestrone soup. The soup was warm enough to eat, but not hot enough to enjoy. The meatball served to my wife was much smaller than the same meatball she ordered yesterday. The blackened chicken pasta was good but there’s no way that the sauce was their creamy Alfredo sauce. They had blended their Alfredo sauce with blackening spices. Be aware if you decide to order this. The sauce did not taste bad it just wasn’t what was on the menu. The chicken did not taste blackened. Be aware that the lunch portion was on the small side (small for a lunch portion).
Update. 12/24. Fried ravioli, fried mushrooms and homemade chips were excellent.
Update, 3/12. Today was Wednesday so we thought we would try the pizza, pasta, and salad lunch, all you can eat. The salad was pretty nice. There were a lot of things and several dressings. The pizza was just OK. The sauce didn’t get along with me very well, but they had four pizzas out at one time. We both agreed that we like MOD Pizza much much better. The pasta was a disappointment. There was none! The closest thing to pasta was bowtie salad, cold, without sauce, other than dressing and hidden among the salad fixings. That ain’t pasta! We are glad we tried it, but we can close the book on...
Read moreFirst, some friends introduced us to this place a few weeks ago. We liked the food, atmosphere, and the vibe of most of the servers. So we kept coming back to try different menu items. The alfredo and cheesecake are lovely!
Unfortunately, our experience at Pizza Shack took a turn for the worse yesterday. What we had to go through with the manager, John, was terrifying. He was argumentative and loud with us in a dining room full of guests. Our entire interaction with him was about not receiving the pizza the way we ordered. Nothing special. We ordered it the same way we ordered it for pickup a few days prior, which was perfect! It was a simple request: extra cheese, PEPPERONI, Italian sausage. (Please see the photo of the pizza, and then ask yourself if it looks like a large pizza with extra cheese… In fact do you see pepperoni or much Italian sausage on the pizza?) It was embarrassing and insulting. When is it professional to belittle customers instead of making the order suitable? The second pizza he brought out as a replacement was worse than the first. Minuscule ingredients and burnt at the bottom. Clearly, he wanted us to leave and had no intention to make it right. Moreover, the staff seems unhappy and uncomfortable when he is present. I can understand because he does not greet customers, smile, or make them feel welcome.
However, there is a female manager who is very kind. I can see her helping and assisting customers with a smile. She also gives her team a hand when needed. We appreciate her presence when we dine in.
Please coach Jessica regarding giving people back their change when they pay cash. Her previous service, where she left out part of my to-go order, and our experience with her yesterday did not warrant a tip. Unfortunately, she lucked up the first time because I was home before I realized the error.
While this experience was an isolated, horrible experience, I don't think we will ever return after being treated so poorly and disrespectfully. My spouse nearly left in tears. It indeed left a bad taste in our mouths. I hope your manager, John, never treats anyone else like he treated my family over extra cheese on a pizza....
Read moreMy family and I have been to Pizza Shack several times in the past few years. We don’t live close but we’ll often make the trip to Willis because the food is great and we’ve always received great service. Today we were on our way back to our home in Spring, TX after spending a week in Dallas for a work trip. We made our usual stop at Buccee’s and headed to Pizza Shack for an early dinner. Texas has recently opened back up after Covid restrictions so we weren’t surprised to see that the restaurant was getting pretty busy while we were there. We were seated and our server was Skylar (sorry if I spelled it wrong). After Skylar took our drink and appetizer order she was almost immediately seated with 3 other tables and with the restaurant filling up fast anyone could get a little overwhelmed by this, even the most seasoned server. With so many people coming in it was understandable that the kitchen got a little backed up but Skylar kept checking in with us to make sure our drinks were topped off and to make sure we were comfortable while assuring us that our food would be out soon. Skylar was very attentive and even hit it off with my 2 year old son when she brought him some dough to play with to keep him occupied. Some of the tables around us were not as patient as we were. We overheard complaints of food coming out incorrectly or taking too long but Skylar handled herself well. She was empathetic and accommodating to all of her tables. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and even stayed around for some amazing cupcakes for dessert. The rush slowed and before we left I commended Skylar for handling herself so well in light of the impatient patrons and backed up kitchen. I also felt compelled to let her manager know how well she did and to write this review. Thank you Skylar and Pizza Shack for an amazing dinner! ...
