The Wild Goose — Restaurant in Willoughby

This place was VERY lack luster in all aspects. Service was nice, pretty attentive, we waited like 20 minutes after boxes to get a check so that was a little annoying, but everything else service wise was fine. We ordered apps with drinks and they took 25-30 minutes to come out, which seemed long since it wasn't a packed night. The mushrooms had way to much cream cheese and had no flavor of sausage at all, to the point everyone that ate them questioned if they even had sausage in them. The fried pepperoni Chios, which I was really excited about because I've only ever seen at one other place in the area, were soft and and liml, just not what I expected as a "chip", possibly should have been fried longer. The mashed potato pizza was also lack luster. I've had them a few other places, amd honestly prefer a cheap chain place to what I had. I LOVE stone fire pizza, and this felt under cooked, or "soggy" the mashed potatoes on top didn't help to the softness of it. I was looking forward to a crispy, brown and black spotted chewy crust I've had before, however, this was still yellow, and had now blowing color at all. Not sure if the Chios were house made, but I was expecting house made and they tasted commercially bought, but the macaroni salad was good! I've been here once before, dine in, food was delicious, but on this takeout order I feel so upset, I ordered the tenders with the goose fries. What i received was frozen fried chicken tenders and fried frozen French fries, my fault for not checking the order on pickup, because I would have sent it back and requested a refund. I'm so disappointed. The food was not great, fries were soggy, tenders were bland because they're from frozen no seasoning, I also requested the dry rub on the tenders, which they forgot to add the dry rub as well. The owner responded rudely to my review, based on their response I doubt it would have made a difference if I contacted them directly, and FYI a Google Review is my essential feedback on your company which is contacting the owner/establishment. The Wild Goose serves up the usual pub grub, but it also happens to be exceptionally good pub grub! The draft beer list was quite respectable and featured a good balance of local and regional craft beers mixed with the usual macrobrew suspects. As for the food, the loaded goose fries were a surprisingly smashable and satisfying mess of starchy potatoes, gooey cheese, tangy aioli, smoky bacon… and a sprinkling of tomatoes to make the whole thing healthy. The pizza was, unbelievably, even more of a flavor explosion, featuring rich (but not greasy) sauces and cheeses layered atop a thin and crispy crust. (The char from the on-site pizza oven really shone through in a positive way!) The staff, meanwhile, were all very attentive and friendly.
