The taste of the sushi was good and the prices were very reasonable. However, the pickup experience could use some work. I ordered from their website, and after ordering, it didn’t tell me when to pick it up. I went 20 minutes later, and it took them another 15 to have my order ready. No big deal, but rather than just stand in the lobby and wait, I would have run another errand or something.
My bigger complaint is actually about the “crunchy” seasoning on their rolls. I ordered a crunchy spicy tuna and a spicy yellowtail. After I got home and opened up my bag, it turns out their version of a “crunchy” roll with a $1 premium is dumping a comically large amount of what appears to be Rice Krispies on top of the rolls. I scraped off what I could, and had a ton that I ended up eating because I couldn’t remove it from the roll without removing most of the rice (as it ended up mixed into the rice). The picture attached is the crunchy stuff leftover. Absolutely insane. It’s as if their spice container lid fell off when they were adding it to my rolls and just said screw it and left it. Had it not been cold, rainy and late, I would have taken it back to be remade, but in the rain it simply wasn’t worth it. This is something so blatantly wrong though that it’s absolutely absurd anyone with even a modicum of self-respect for their work would send to a customer. Based on this, I wouldn’t order pickup again without opening the order...
Read moreI avoided this restaurant for years because I heard they weren't that great. However, lacking in new places to review this Friday, I decided to give them a shot and try a lunch special. Jasmine Asian Cuisine is in a strip mall on the southbound side of Concord Pike. Access from northbound Concord Pike is easy by turning left at a traffic light intersection. Parking seems more than adequate at lunch time on a weekday, although I have no idea what would happen at peak shopping season.
I have to say that in contrast to the second-hand impression I had of this restaurant, they've greatly improved. The host and server were more than gracious and checked on me a fair number of times. The food wasn't bad either. I tried a pad thai with shrimp and the flavors were subtle, not overly peanut-laden the way they make it at some other Asian fusion restaurants. The salad I ordered as an add-on seemed fresh too. It was a tad heavy on the ginger dressing but I didn't mind. Better a bit too much than too little. And finally, the interior decor was restful and comfortable with wood tones and some cushioned seats, for those...
Read moreMy issue is about their service to minorities and irregular customers. They prioritize regulars and it seems minorities have to wait a little longer. My food was done and ready but i had to wait for other non-minority orders to be taken and processed before mine. They use an incremental numerical system to track orders. An order that was 6 spots behind mine was called and served and i still had to wait another 15 minutes for a total of 50 minutes. Others waited an average 20 minutes and i noticed that if you were a female and not a minority the waiter was falling over herself to serve you. She actually apologised for the wait, took details of your car and ran your to your car. But for me when she could no longer decently delay me, i got a quick... here you go sir! Gee thanks!. Everyone else got a thank you and have a nice day but not the young minority boy. Actually my feelings are a little hurt, but maybe thats the...
