10 years ago, I made (what I consider to be) my first real significant art purchases, from an online gallery in London.
As I anxiously awaited the arrival of the 2 pieces, life provided (as it often does) unexpected critical, financial diversions; (The furnace in our newly purchased house died two weeks before Christmas).
Money I'd originally earmarked to frame the 2 pieces was diverted to help purchase & install a new furnace. Not wanting to settle for substandard framing, the art languished, still in the mailing tube for almost a decade, until now.
Two months ago, I brought the first piece in to Talleyville Framing, after reading about the quality of their work online.
That day, I met Shawn and explained my vision for the final product. I showed him swatches of the paint colors in our house and asked for advice.
I consider myself to be somewhat creative, but getting something framed, and the substantial nuances of choosing colors, matte styles and combinations to enhance visual impact was daunting, especially considering how particular my husband Dan is.
After meeting & speaking with Shawn that first day, I recognized that he's a highly knowledgable & talented artist who "gets" my aesthetic style. I took a leap of faith and gave him free reign to suggest the best ways to elevate the first piece and I'm SO glad I did!
4 weeks ago, I picked up the finished piece and immediately hung it in our living room. I anxiously awaited for Dan to return home from an errand. Almost an hour later, I caught him silently staring at it for almost 20 minutes, transfixed with a huge smile on his face. I immediately returned to the gallery and gave Shawn the go-ahead to begin work on the second piece.
Last Friday, I eagerly hung the second piece in the place of honor, above the fireplace, grinning from ear to ear. Dan arrived home shortly thereafter.
When he walked in the room and first saw it, he immediately gushed about how much he loved Shawn's artistry.
After a we had a celebratory victory beverage, I then spent almost 2 hours trying to capture Shaun's talent with my camera. I don't think I've succeeded (yet), but I've included my favorite pictures here.
I can't recommend Talleyville Frame Shoppe and Shawn enough. They are friendly, extremely knowledgeable and really talented.
I'm now looking around at other pieces I have in the house to see which ones I want to collaborate with Shawn on next.

Read moreI had several very large and valuable pictures framed by Talleyville Frame Shoppe between 10-15 years ago, and their work was always of the highest caliber. Last week during a move, one of the pictures was accidentally dropped and the matting tape came loose causing the image to drop inside the frame. I called a local framing store who said that re-attaching the image would cost $40 and take two weeks. Even though Talleyville Frame Shoppe was much farther away, I decided to call them and get a second opinion. Not only were they incredibly professional and courteous, they said they could fix it while I waited and the repair was free since I had the original work done by them. I dropped the picture off, ran a few errands, came back about an hour later, and sure enough there was no charge and the image and framing looked just as good as it did when I picked it up the first time over a decade ago. I would never go anywhere else to get my pictures framed. Their customer service and passion for their work are reflected in their finished product. I would give 6 stars but I'm only...
Read moreI found my way to Talleyville vis-à-vis unanimous FB recommendations from friends. I had been looking to find a less expensive place to get an art print framed. I had hit Michael’s and Joann fabrics. While I can’t say that Talleyville was cheaper, I walked away deliriously happy with the job that they did. When I walked in, Avalon helped me & she pulled out a variety of options until we (she lol) found the perfect combo. It was nice to have someone willing to pull together a variety of options until I found “the one.“ Interestingly enough, when she she suggested the fabric matting, my initial thought was what is a fabric mat & ewww. But when laid it out, my eyes lit up and I knew she had found the perfect combo. It was nice to have someone wait on me that was genuinely excited about the print and pulling the work together. Top-notch service and...
