La Tapatia Taqueria — Restaurant in Wilmington

I recently tried this restaurant, and unfortunately, my experience was not a positive one.

When I called ahead to place an order for pickup, the woman who answered the phone was rude and seemed to be rushing me to quickly place my order. She didn't ask for my name, so I gave it to her before hanging up.

When I arrived at the restaurant to pick up my order, I told them the name it was under, but I was met with an attitude from a woman who asked me what I had ordered. This was concerning as a similar situation had happened to me at another restaurant, resulting in me receiving the wrong order when I got home.

Upon arriving home and opening my order, I found that my tacos were only filled with meat and tortillas. I noticed a salsa bar in the corner, but I was not informed that I needed to add toppings myself.

Considering the price I paid, I found this to be unacceptable. I had to build my own tacos, and the attitude of the woman who took my order alone convinced me that I would never return to this restaurant.

I ordered sopes, that typically come with lettuce, mexican queso and crema. However, this restaurant adds onions and tomatoes to theirs.

When I got my order I asked the server what mexican state this restaurant was based off of, the server did not know. I told her that most mexican restaurants don’t add onions or tomatoes and asked her if i could have the dish remade.

She brought the dish back in less than a minute and all the topping were just taken off of the dish, not remade. No lettuce, queso or crema. Tomatoes and onions were still visible.

I proceeded to ask her, what if I was allergic to one of the ingredients and she took a while to respond. When she did respond, she stated to let them know next time that I don't want certain ingredients.

I let her know that then I would consider adding ingredients to their menu.

The restaurant itself is nice and the service was good at first, but after that interaction, my table was not tended...

I should have turned around and left. When I walked up to the to order, a girl was standing at the counter with her back to me eating. Someone came from the back to tell her I was standing there. We were notified that no sides or chips are included eith any item, so after ordering 2 burritos, one cheese quesadilla, two sides of beans and rice, chips and salsa, and one bottled water, out bill was $35. For 2 adults and one baby. I don't mind spending money for higher quality food, but our food came out barely warm and very bland. Service is nonexistent! I had to search for our forks and knives. No one came to check on us or anything the entire time we were there. Next time I'll stick to Island's fresh mex or Flaming Amy's. Where chips and salsa is included at a...
