We've had mixed results with Ethan Allen furniture and the staff at this store. Over the years, we purchased a sofa and loveseat, a large sectional, a smaller sectional, and several smaller accessories. Overall, Ethan Allen (EA) quality is good as it should be for the premium price EA charges. Or at least, it WAS good. The small sectional with attached chaise with down-wrapped foam cushions in a chenille fabric is absolutely horrible. We could get a better looking piece by buying used furniture from a thrift store. The cushions and fabric are not holding up and are certainly not the EA quality that we were used to. We've tried to get EA to respond, and we went through their warranty process with no satisfaction. Finally, a designer came out to see the problem. She informed us that we needed to flip the cushions often and leave the zipper side with the tie-down tabs exposed. So, no high-quality, finished look while you are using the bottom-side of the cushions to make the fabric shift back per the designer's advice. We've never had to do that with our other EA furniture. We tried to explain that we were not happy with the quality of this one piece, and she said that she wouldn't continue helping us "while we trash talked our furniture". We weren't complaining about her. We were complaining about this particular EA piece. The designer never asked how EA could make this situation right.
Update 2/21/23: We did hear from Ethan Allen this morning, and EA has committed to remake the cushions on our small sectional. It was certainly refreshing to hear so quickly from someone at EA who can help us solve this issue. We're glad to know that EA does hear and respond to customer concerns. So, 3 stars for now until the final product displays the same high quality from EA that we've enjoyed over the years.
Update 4/07/23: As promised by Ethan Allen in February, EA just replaced the cushions on our sectional. The sofa LOOKS GREAT now! Although it was a long process to get EA's attention to our issue, Ethan Allen followed through and delivered on the quality that we have come to expect from EA. We will definitely consider buying...
Read moreAfter purchasing Hunter Douglas silhouette shades, purchasing was easy, setting up zero 0% was simple, but once the installation was scheduled, the nightmare began. The installer Ethan Allen sent out botched everything he touched. Wrong measurements, not knowing how to install the shades, showing up daily to cause more damage and returns and re-dos. took numerous months. In the end, Hunter Douglas sent another installer. I wrote a bad review which the sales rep asked me to take down because her husband would use that against her. I did because I felt she was trying to help me. After finally sending out a rep from NY, I thought my troubles were behind me. I rarely opened the very expensive dual blinds in my bedroom, but one day I decided to do that and it’s completely off track and shredding. I contacted Ethan Allen four different times to speak to the manager, and I was told by one of the sales reps( per the manager Jennifer)to call Hunter Douglas myself. I did, and when I explained to them what was going on, they asked me if I was a dealer. I said no and they then instructed me to call Ethan Allen back again when I did, the manager was “conveniently“ out of the office, unavailable, or outside. I finally had to call Hunter Douglas back again and they had me contact Wilmington Shutters and blinds; what a relief to talk to a professional, they immediately sent someone out to inspect and my blinds will be remade and installed by a professional company. When I called Ethan Allen to get some paperwork for the blinds Jennifer’s last comment to me was let me know if there’s anything I can do to help you. She didn’t do anything to begin with, and as a manager of the store, she is a poor example of how to treat your customers. If Ethan Allen would look at the amount of items that I have purchased from them over the years, I think they would be astounded by the way I have been treated by the Ethan Allen on S. College St. I would highly recommend that you do not deal with Jennifer or her staff at the Ethan Allen store. Go to Raleigh if you need to purchase anything. They are much more...
Read moreMy husband and I recently moved to the Wilmington area and wanted to replace our master bedroom furniture. Not being familiar with the area, but familiar with Ethan Allen's reputation, I found a showroom. I was introduced to Jennifer Mattis. We became fast friends. My original plan was to replace the nightstands and customize a more contemporary bed, working with a unique existing dresser. Jennifer made designing a custom room easy. With her direction, we found not "matching" but nightstands that compliment the mercury mirrored dresser. We also picked out a beautiful leather for the platform bed. I am generally not inclined to purchase everything from one source, but in this case I did. With Jennifer's help and direction we transformed the room into a suite. We also purchased a painting, bedding ensemble, custom upholstered chair, side table, rug, and a shelf to hold all of our treasured family photos. The last elements are the window treatments, which we began today. Once again, Jennifer is making this process easy. She has a talent for helping you determine your style and implement that into your home. She is the best designer I have ever worked with. I will continue to consult her for all of our...
