A Delicious Morning Surprise - S&L New York Style Deli Review
Hey fellow travelers! During my recent visit to the picturesque town of Wilmington, North Carolina, I had the pleasure of discovering a delightful piece of the Big Apple right in the heart of downtown - S&L New York Style Deli. This place is truly a hidden gem!
As a proud New Yorker with a penchant for authentic deli experiences, I was excited to see what this spot had to offer. From the moment I stepped inside, the familiar scent of freshly baked bread and sizzling bacon filled the air, instantly transporting me back to the bustling streets of Manhattan.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the Sweet and Salty Breakfast Sandwich. I must say, it was an absolute delight. This sandwich was a perfect fusion of flavors and textures, featuring a harmonious blend of sweet and savory elements. The crispy bacon, fluffy eggs, and a drizzle of maple syrup nestled between two soft, fresh-baked rolls created a mouthwatering symphony of tastes.
But that's not all! The staff at S&L New York Style Deli went above and beyond to make our visit unforgettable. They generously let us sample their range of delicious soups, and each one was a winner. From the classic matzo ball soup to the hearty beef barley, they were all incredibly flavorful and comforting.
The warm and welcoming staff at S&L New York Style Deli provided top-notch service that made my visit even more enjoyable. It's evident that they take pride in delivering an authentic New York deli experience, and they excel at it.
Whether you're a homesick New Yorker or simply a fan of classic deli fare, S&L New York Style Deli in Wilmington, North Carolina, is a destination worth experiencing. It's a slice of NYC charm in the South, and I can't wait to return for another bite of that Sweet and Salty Breakfast Sandwich and, of course, those amazingly...
Read moreStaff is kind, courteous and attentive. Their food is made the way I PERSONALLY like my food: It tastes good (the way it's EXPECTED to taste) with NO frills or unnecessary ridiculousness AND everything is decently priced. Regarding the establishment itself - Although the business has operated in Wilmington for MANY years and is located within a very small and aging "strip mall", it's been (from what can be seen via the CUSTOMER's point of view) well maintained, kept clean, and has a really cool vibe (ie.: pictures of New York, NY license plates & 9-11 memorabilia cover all the walls inside). *SIDENOTE: A large part of this restaurant's income stems from its catering business. Many long-standing Wilmington companies repeatedly hire S & L for catering bc their prices are reasonable, the food is well-liked by almost everyone and because they KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING, therefore there's little chance of any unwelcomed surprises occurring (ie.: cold food; poor planning; not enough food to feed all employees / attendees). I hired S & L 5+ times to cater events with approximately 250 to 300 individuals and can't recall anyone ever expressing dissatisfaction. *FRIENDLY WARNING: If you're a hardcore Red Sox fan who lacks a sense of humor - DON'T EAT HERE. Get your food to-go OR eat elsewhere. Otherwise...
Read moreI was referred this place by a co-worker after my bagel shop of 20+ years closed down and was bought out, but not in a good way. My family loves NY style bagels and all that comes with it, so after seeing the signs for NY bagels I was excited to give it a try since it's less than a mile from my house and job. I specifically talked to the lady at the register and explained my bagel dilemma, and she assured me that I was in the right place. How wrong she was. The bagel was waxy, so not freshly baked more like reheated after being frozen from a factory. And anybody from up North knows that a bagel without a good amount of cream cheese is no bagel worth eating. The cream cheese was thinly, I mean scraped onto and off again, and didn't even cover the entire bagel half! What a disappointment. If you want a good bagel make the drive to the beach and try Beach Bagel before the bridge. Don't go to their Oleander location bc the wait staff is incredibly rude and you'll wait for hours to get your order, but the beach location is great. Guess it's back to making the drive to the beach for me. S&L you were a real disappointment, especially since I explained to you what I was looking for in a bagel. False advertising at it's finest here. If the staff here have ever visited NY...
