Ordered a pizza was told it would be 30 minutes for pickup. I get there and it isn't even made yet. 45 minutes later it comes out from the back. Then the credit card machine doesn't work. Great pizza but a terrible business with a cheap owner that won't buy a real credit card machine. Edit: 3/5/2020 I have a bad enough experience at a restaraunt every 6 months or so enough to leave a bad review. This is the first time the owner has accused me of being a "POS salesman?" lmao. Seems like the owner needs to grow up. I left other bad parts about the experience out of my initial review, but I guess I'll write the rest now: After sitting in the store for 45 minutes waiting for my pizza, which had nothing to do with the machine being slow btw, and finding out the machine didnt work I wasn't offered a solution for awhile. Eventually the employee there told me "to just take it it'll come out of my check anyway". I responded that there is no way I'm going to take that pizza knowing it's coming out of the worker's check, I said that's no way to run a business and they can't do that (I've worked in restaraunts my entire life). Turns out the worker was the owner's son, but if it really comes out of his check then this owner blows. If it doesn't then I got guilt tripped for literally no reason when I just wanted some good pizza. In addition, I was at a brewery earlier this month where the Wheelz pizza truck was at and the pizza was not as good as I remember it, with it somehow being cold and wet when they gave it to me even though I had stood next to the truck the entire time...
Read moreI had to edit my review. Pizza went down hill quick, prices went up, toppings are almost not existent. Flavor was still good but not worth the price.
Update. Based on the ridiculous lengthy lecture/reply I have received. I will go in detail. Bait and switch. Wheelz was selling 18 inch pizzas at the 17th St. location for under $20 now according to the menu at the Wrightsville Ave location they are selling pizzas for around $16 for a 14 inch with toppings but when I was there I was lucky to get a 11 to 12 inch pizza. I ordered two supposedly 14 inch pizzas and two drinks cost around $40 and I ended up with two roughly 11 to 12 inch pizzas with hardly no toppings on them. And then I put an update of my original review and all I hear is a lecture of how supposedly awesome your company is… well it’s not!Greed set in. Theres better places out there now in Wilmington. Dropped a star for lame excuses. Update to question from Wheelz… Quick question for clarification, was the pizza itself 11-12 inches or was it 14 inches with toppings only placed in the center 11-12 inches; not to the outer rim? The pizzas were a total size about 11 to 12 inches and again the toppings were almost non existent. Matter of fact they were dime to nickel size. Consistency is key. You get a regular customer to like your food and pricing and then open a new location and “drop the ball” on them. Then the excuse that years went buy and prices went up. Opening new locations is the most costly part and that’s on you. Don’t except your customers to make up...
Read moreReading a few of the less than favorable reviews here is cause for concern and correction. Allow me to be clear, the employees and ownership of Wheelz Pizza go far and above these mediocre complaints. In fact I question that they may originate from competition since Paul and his employees are doing such an incredible job and challenging others to step up. There are a lot of pizza places in town and in my opinion every one that is worthy has a unique taste and attraction about them. Elizabeth has her taste and place, Pizzetta's, and Benny's Big Time Pizza all are unique just as is Wheelz Pizza. The leavened dough and organic ingredients set these guys apart from the crowd. The taste is different, less filling yet full of wonderful flavor. And you will not find a more conscientious ownership than you will with Paul. His interest in satisfying his customers is something that is not found very often anymore. Elizabeth offers this kind of personal relationship with her customers and it has proven extraordinarily successful over the years. I wager to believe that Paul and his employees with Wheelz Pizza will do the same. Do yourself a favor and order one or more of these pizzas. You'll be in for a tasty treat and personal experience that you will not soon...
