Paul's of New York Restaurant — Restaurant in Wilson

We have done take out pizza couple times now after recommendations from some locals. Last night we sat at the bar and had an appetizer, antipasto and pizza. Love the bar area, it's a good size separate from the main dining room so it's cozy and quiet with some booth tables for sit down seating. Nice selection of wine and spirits while not being overkill, with friendly attentive and busy bar staff.

Pizza has been excellent every time, and consistency is important. They pile on the toppings and they are flavorful and fresh a top a thin NY style crust.

We ordered mozzarella sticks and it was an ample portion of six sticks that were fried to perfection. Seen some pictures of the marinara sauce online and it didn't look great, however the dipping sauce for the mozz sticks was thick and delicious so thinking the photos just aren't doing justice.

Got the antipasto for two and it was also well presented with a small bed of romaine iceberg mix and a selection of ham, salami and cheese, With some tomato slices, cucumber, sliced black olive and pepperoncinis. Dressing is served on the side which is nice. Honestly the appetizer, salad and the complimentary basket of bread was enough of a meal, but we managed to tough it out and plow through a slice or two of pizza as well. The rest came home.

Thinking we do need to come back for dinner and actually try some of the entrees. 2:00 and white linen napkins from sneak peeks into the dining room. If everything is done to the same level of quality has what we've had so far it could be a real keeper.

We ate there on Saturday Oct 8. Three grand children, the youngest 15 mos, 1, 7 yrs, 1, 10 (she says almost 11) and my daughter. The waitress probably had to clean up lots of stuff after we left the PERFECT restaurant. The food was exceptional! However that waitress, she was the best service oriented lady (or man) on this small world. Don't take this wrong please? The pizza was wonderful, the bread was great, the salads were perfect, but the waitress was kind, patient, really complete.... Everytime we leave a restaurant, the waitress has to clean up behind the grandchildren. She understood this, so COOL!!!! We WILL come back... My brother, he worked close to this restaurant for years, told me we HAVE to go there, he was so right!!!! A truly wonderful experience!!! I may call ahead next time and ask them to remove the table cloth though.... My grandkids kept using the table cloth for their cloth napkins.... I apologize for...

Door says hours are till 9:00 pm. Show up cash in hand and as healthy tippers ready for a good meal at 8:05. Somebody steps in and tells our waiter with an attitude “tell them they have 10 minutes to get their order in” this is before we even get sat down good. We order drinks and start to look the menu over. Our waitress brings us our drinks by 8:11 and says “I may have time to give you all one more round” Complete disrespect and terrible customer service. We felt extremely rushed and disrespected. We payed for our drinks and left. I could understand if we showed up at 8:45, but showing up nearly an hour before the place closes and getting treated like that is unbelievable.
