New in Jan 2024, Jefferson's is a sports bar recently opened on 1st just off of the Square in Winchester. Very good hamburgers and wings, and many great appetizers. We loved the new pretzel bites, a nice serving size and served warm and with queso and spicy honey mustard. The wings are very good. My wife ordered the 5 piece with chips as her side. She asked for mild sauce on the side, but I thought the sauce was much spicier than the mild. Note, you can ask for samples of the sauces to try before ordering. I had a cheeseburger with everything an coleslaw as my side. The burger was very good, but had a soggy bottom bun, probably from the juicy and tasty tomato slices. No worries, there is a roll of paper towels on each table to help with messy fingers. I snarfed the burger, it was good! Our friend ordered the child's menu burger, and it was good sized. She also ordered the funnel fries opting for chocolate dipping sauce on the side. She took them home as a dessert for later. Service was very good, and there is currently staff from Manchester training the awinchester folks, but the processes are in place and everything seemed to be running smoothly. We received our food quickly. There are a ton of TVs around, so this would be a great place to get out of market games.
There is free wifi available, but I started working through "registering" and it was asking for email and then requires watching an ad, and probably would keep feeding ads, so I just quit the process.
You cannot park in the Winchester public lot or on the street. For some reason today (Jan2024) the rear entrance seemed to be restricted from pedestrian access from the lot. This might be cleared up in the future but worth noting.
There are several tables on a patio in the rear of the building.
Wheelchair friendly at both entrances and table...
Read moreThought I would try this place again today to see if it had improved any. A couple weeks ago I called to find out if they had a happy hour. I was told they have the same special as the Manchester store. Which was 2 4 1 drafts, and some food specials also from 3 to 6. Today when I asked the waitresses she said they didn't have ANY specials. When I inquired a second time she said there was a happy hour, but didn't know what it was or the price of anything. Very frustrating dealing with someone so worthless. Train your people, if they don't know prices, or specials, then they are not ready to work. The sad thing was she was training another girl.... 😪 . After all this she brought me the wrong size drinks, and the wrong amount of chicken fingers. There was literally nothing else she could screw up... but, everyone has a bad day, so no biggie. The final nail in the coffin was the chicken tenders and fries were terrible. If you can't deliver a product that is that simple, then you don't have much of a chance of success. What really bothers me the most is I really had high hopes for this place. I really wanted a place to have a few beers some bar food and watch a game ,but I guess it's back to Tullahoma...
Read moreLimited on-street parking, a parking lot behind this sports bar. Service to order take-out and to cook the food was very slow at off-peak time with not many diners in the restaurant...all of whom seemed to be waiting for their food. I didn't notice until I was home that I was overcharged for a side which should have been included with the meal and was not a premium side for which there is an upcharge. The food is average tasting and pricey to begin with, plus, they shorted me one wing from the order. I should have checked before leaving, learning from the girl next to me who was shorted baked beans but was late returning to work and couldn't wait any longer for the staff to fill what the girl had already paid for. I live too far away to go back and rectify the issues, and I certainly won't be back again anyway to recoup my loss. It's typical fried, greasy, unhealthy fare, in what reminds me of a non-cozy cafeteria with a bar off to the side. Please, no apology or plea from the owner, because it won't help. I've learned my lesson here, and at any other...
