I just came from Bob's seafood. That will be the last time that we go there. The waitress was ok, however, she did not ask how our meal was. I ordered the Lemon Pepper Haddock without cracker crumbs. The lemon pepper haddock was a very small portion fo the price. It was so salty and had an awful fake lemon pepper seasoning, so thickly coated on the top that it was bright yellow. I would think they would use real lemon and cracked pepper. It was awful I couldn't eat it,I literally spit a bite of it out into my napkin. I was not by myself, I had two other people try the lemon pepper haddock and they said it was awful. It was so salty it burned the inside of my lips and it was very dry. When the waitress brought the check over I let her know that I was really disappointed because I had ordered it before and it was not at all like this. She said she would "REMIND" the cook....what does that mean? Has this happened before? It was clearly not real lemon it was a fake seasoning thing. The whole top of the haddock was yellow and crusty the crusty part was obviously some kind of very salty topping. The only thing I asked for was no cracker crumbs which I had done in the past I said to go ahead and put the butter on, but no cracker crumbs. The waitress then said, " There was another person who had left most of their lemon pepper haddock on their plate and she wondered if something was wrong but they had not said anything. She came back and said that they said that they would make sure to not make it that way again. We we're not offered to speak to a manager. So on our way out we asked to speak to a manager.A young man came out. We told him that we had been patrons here before and enjoyed it and then told him our experience tonight. He said "Oh, I'm sorry I hope you'll give us another chance." There was no offer to comp the meal or to offer a gift card to come back and try again. We will not be going back to Bob's. This experience was just awful I am sorry because it's local and we had loved it in the past but something has changed. It's been a few hours and the inside of my lips have a...
Read moreThis was my first visit to Maine during a business trip, and since my company is conveniently located near this restaurant, my boss highly recommended their seafood. We chose to have lunch here, arriving slightly past noon on a Friday, and were pleasantly surprised to find a brief wait for a table. To me, this signaled a positive sign. For my meal, I indulged in 6 oysters, shrimp cocktails, bacon-wrapped scallops, and a lobster roll. I must admit that the seafood here surpassed my expectations in terms of taste and quality. I'm thoroughly convinced that this place knows its seafood well, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit. What sets this establishment apart is that it's not just a restaurant; it also operates as a seafood market. People can stop by to purchase fresh seafood to enjoy at home. During our meal, I noticed several customers dropping by to buy seafood for later. Additionally, the spacious parking lot adds to the convenience. Our waitress was remarkably attentive and detailed. She took the time to explain any dish modifications and provided alternative options when needed. Her attention to detail was commendable, and it enhanced our dining experience. All in all, I would confidently give this place a 5-star rating. I'll definitely make a return visit whenever I have the opportunity and will wholeheartedly recommend it to my friends.
Update on 6/12/2025. Back at Bob's Seafood after 16 months, and it's still fantastic since my last visit, making this my second time, and they continue to impress. Our party of four arrived around 12:40 PM, and our table was ready instantly. While it took about 30 minutes for our food to arrive, the wait was absolutely worth it. We ordered the Beet Salad, the Signature Salad with Scallops, and the Ahi Tuna Steak Sandwich. All were delicious! My Signature Salad with Scallops was truly exceptional – easily one of the best salads I've ever had. It's clear Bob's Seafood has maintained its great performance. Consistently excellent food. Another solid 5/5 from me!...
Read moreLanded for 12noon lunch. While awaiting lunch partner I decided to order fresh lobsters for XMas Eve dinner: excellent customer service with set up. Looking forward to order pick up a week and a half away. Then proceeded to the new Bar area for lunch for 2: Seafood chowder, House Salad, Italian Lemon Cake, Hot Berry Tea, Haddock Sandwich w/Coleslaw. Chowder served in large crock: milk based, found it a bit bland, potato chunks still a bit firm, but enjoyed none the less. House Salad was large w/good sized amount of fresh greens, cucs, grape tomatoes, shredded cheese, & croutons served with house dressing - citrus vinaigrette - that was delicious and unique. No complaints spoken about the Haddock Sandwich. Shared a wedge of the Italian Lemon Cake and found it to be excellent in appearance and taste - a very nice end to our meal - light, not overly sweet, 1/2 inch cream layered middle - we were too busy chatting for any exploration beyond eating it and the fresh whipped cream mound on the side: yummy. In a nutshell: excellent, friendly customer service, very good meal, quiet atmosphere, comfortable booth seating, very clean surroundings whether in the original shop area or the new addition. Also: 2 new bathrooms, but did not need to use. Bar: spacious, customers seemed very comfortable - will explore next time. Seafood in cases was clearly fresh and only fresh is served...no need to venture to Portland for...
